Hawkeye7, Let's see what the third party tag actually says. "sources too closely associated with the subject". Does it say "sources published by the subject". NO. So your reason for the removal of the tag was simply wrong. The tag is also about sources published by connected organisation. As she works as an ambassador for Black Dog Institute they are closely associated, they are not an independent third party source. As a UniSA student UniSA is closely associated, they are not an independent third party source. As a Bond student Bond is closely associated, they are not an independent third party source. As a member of Westlakes Canoe they are closely associated, they are not an independent third party source. The organisation that gave her a scholarship is closely associated, they are not an independent third party source. As the tag says we need reliable, independent, third-party sources.
An independent source is a source that has no vested interest in a given Wikipedia topic. "Examples are the person, family members, friends, employer, employees". Being a stident at a university does not mean that the university is controlled by you. Similarly, playing a sport does not mean that the sporting body is under your control. We almost always use sporting organisations to establish the notability of the athletes. We take the Olympic Committee's word for it that someone is an Olympian. Universities have a vested interest in the promotion of the successes of their student to enhance their reputations. The sports governing body is in a way an employer. The body has a vested interest in the promotion of the sport and the athletes involved. Of course the sporting body is not under your control, it's more the opposite.
