Edit request re: sales volume
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
On behalf of Honor, I propose updating the article with the following:
- Sales volume of Honor 8 worldwide exceeded 1.5 million units within the first two months of its launch.[1]
References

Following is markup for easier implementation:

I am looking for a non-biased editor to verify the appropriateness of this addition and copy over to the article (perhaps the bottom of the "Release" section?). Here is an additional source to support the claim, if helpful. I will not edit the article myself given my COI. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you! - @Dodger67: Pinging you in case you are willing to help again (you moved the article from AfC to the main space). Thanks again. Inkian Jason (talk) 21:22, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

- @St170e: Thank you very much for your help (again!). If you're feeling particularly generous today, I've posted two more simple requests below (I figured multiple short and easy requests are easier to respond to than a single request with many parts). Edit request for "Reception" section
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
On behalf of Honor, I'd like to propose another addition to the article, perhaps at the bottom of the "Reception" section:
- Honor 8 earned "editor's choice" awards from Android Central and Tom's Guide,[1][2] and was named the year's best mobile phone in the "middle class" category by Ljud & Bild.[3]

Is there a volunteer who can review this request and implement appropriately? I am happy to address any questions or concerns here or on my talk page. Thanks! Inkian Jason (talk) 21:12, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
Done! I added made some slight modifications to the proposed text, and I added some information from another source (Android Police). Snowsky419 (talk) 22:27, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Snowsky419: Thank you very much for your fast reply here. I appreciate your help. I have marked this edit request as 'answered' above, and if you're willing to review any other simple requests for this article, please see below. Thanks again! Inkian Jason (talk) 20:53, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
Edit request re: Guinness World Records
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
I am back with another request to update the article on behalf of Honor. Currently, the Wikipedia article says, "The record for highest smartphone livestream was achieved despite the weather balloon's failure to reach the 30,000-metre (98,000 ft) goal." According to this source and Honor's website (which I realize is not considered independent coverage), the record was verified by Guinness World Records. I propose updating the sentence to read:
- "The record for highest smartphone livestream, which was verified by Guinness World Records,[1] was achieved despite the weather balloon's failure to reach the 30,000-metre (98,000 ft) goal."
References
- ^ "Huawei's 'Honor' Launch Sets Global World Record in Space". Little Black Book. Retrieved 28 December 2016.
Following is markup for easier implementation:
- The record for highest smartphone livestream, which was verified by [[Guinness World Records]],<ref>{{cite web|title=Huawei's 'Honor' Launch Sets Global World Record in Space|url=https://lbbonline.com/news/huaweis-honor-launch-sets-global-world-record-in-space/|website=Little Black Book|accessdate=28 December 2016}}</ref> was achieved despite the weather balloon's failure to reach the {{Convert|30000|m|ft|adj=on}} goal.
I won't be updating the article directly because of my conflict of interest, but I hope a reviewing editor can help. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you. Inkian Jason (talk) 21:12, 30 January 2017 (UTC)

Edit request for "Specifications" section
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
On behalf of Honor, I have returned with another edit request, this time to update to the "Specifications" section:
- Users who elected to participate in the Honor 8 beta program on November 7, 2016 were able to start testing Android Nougat-based EMUI 5.0 later that month;[1][2][3] the software will be available to all Honor 8 users starting in February 2017.[4][5][6]

I won't update the article directly because of my conflict of interest, but I hope to find a neutral editor who is willing to help. The best place for this information is probably a new, separate paragraph within the "Specifications" section. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you! Inkian Jason (talk) 20:37, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
Honor has already begun rolling out EMUI 5/Android Nougat to the Honor 8, so the proposed text is now a little outdated, as it refers to the software update in the future tense. I added information stating that the Honor 8 begun to receive the update on February 11, 2017 using a source from Android Police. :) Snowsky419 (talk) 18:06, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Snowsky419: Thank you for reviewing this edit request and for updating the article. However, the "Specification" section's first sentence was removed in the process, along with its inline citation, which is used throughout the article. Would you mind returning the following sentence? (markup provided):
- The Honor 8 is a flagship smartphone made by Honor, a sub-brand under the Huawei Group, as part of the [[Huawei Honor]] series.
- This detail is mentioned in the lead, but should also be said in the article's prose. This will also fix the paragraph opening with "It", which is ambiguous. It looks like a bot rescued the inline citation parameters, so you can either move the "McCracken" inline citation back up to the top (after this first sentence), or just add "<ref name= McCracken/>" as an inline citation. Thanks again for your help! Inkian Jason (talk) 17:02, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
- Done JB525 (talk) 13:21, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
- @JB525: I am marking this section as resolved. Thanks again for your assistance. Inkian Jason (talk) 16:00, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

Second edit request for "Specifications" section
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
On behalf of Honor, I propose adding the following update to "Specifications" section:
- In November 2016, Honor announced that sakura pink, which was initially available only in China, would be sold in Europe.[1][2]
References
- ^ Tanasychuk, Mike (September 16, 2016). "Which color Honor 8 should you get?". Android Central. Retrieved January 17, 2017.
- ^ "Honor 8 Sakura Pink variant finally coming to Europe". Mobile Scout. November 29, 2016. Retrieved January 17, 2017.
Following is markup for easier implementation:
- In November 2016, Honor announced that sakura pink, which was initially available only in China, would be sold in Europe.<ref>{{cite web|last1=Tanasychuk|first1=Mike|title=Which color Honor 8 should you get?|url=http://www.androidcentral.com/which-color-honor-8-should-you-get|website=Android Central|accessdate=January 17, 2017|date=September 16, 2016}}</ref><ref>{{cite web|title=Honor 8 Sakura Pink variant finally coming to Europe|url=https://www.mobilescout.com/android/news/n76685/Honor-8-Sakura-Pink-variant-Europe.html|website=Mobile Scout|accessdate=January 17, 2017|date=November 29, 2016}}</ref>
The best placement for this update is probably immediately following the existing sentence, "In the United States, Honor 8 is available in midnight black, sapphire blue, and pearl white." I won't update the article directly because of my conflict of interest. I hope a neutral editor who can help, and as always, do let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you. Inkian Jason (talk) 20:41, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
I just added the proposed text. :) Snowsky419 (talk) 18:04, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Snowsky419: Thank you for reviewing and implementing this request, which I have marked as "answered" above. I responded in the above section about adding back a missing sentence, and if you're feeling super generous, there is one more edit request above about the Guinness World Record verification, if you have time to review. Thanks again! Inkian Jason (talk) 17:06, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
Request to revert to previous version of article
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
On behalf of Honor, I am requesting a revert of these changes to restore this version of the Wikipedia article. An anonymous editor has added a large chunk of non-English content, which does not belong here (perhaps this is intended for Italian Wikipedia?). I prefer not to edit the article directly, given my conflict of interest, but I hope an editor can assist with reverting this content as soon as possible. @JB525: I am pinging you in case you're able to help, given your recent assistance. Thanks for your consideration. Inkian Jason (talk) 19:14, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
- Done. Hello Inkian Jason; this is no problem to solve. Thanks for alerting us and reaching out for help. I have no idea what the intent of the anonymous editor was, but you and I have left good measured notes on their talk page. I am going to reset the request as answered, but this is on my watchlist. Let one of us know if this has not been adequately restored (or ours gets overturned). Wishing you all the best, Fylbecatulous talk 22:51, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Fylbecatulous: Thank you very much for your help. Inkian Jason (talk) 23:29, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
