Eastern Rite Catholic Churches

[edit]

I have removed the statement that the above term has fallen into disuse. This is untrue. As an Eastern Rite Catholic (Ukrainian), I can find no replacement term. Am I now a sui iuris Catholic? auto-cephalus Catholic? Come on. Yes, the canon law terms have changed but the identification of these churches has not.EastmeetsWest 05:11, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Split

[edit]

The Byzantine exarch obviously is another breed entirely than the religious titles. The article should be split in two. -- Hurven (talk) 19:54, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Move and merge?

[edit]

The article Exarchate is currently in rather poor shape. Shouldn't we move the content of this article to Exarchate so that everything is together in one article? Marcocapelle (talk) 19:27, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Some actions are definitely needed, in both articles (Exarch and Exarchate), but when we take a look at similar terms and respective pages, a serious problem of consistency emerges. For example, we have article Vicar, and also we have page Vicariate that redirects to Vicar. On the other hand, we have article Bishop, but the page Bishopric redirects to Diocese and that is quite logical. So, what shall we do? Also, we have an earlier suggestion, in previous section, that article Exarch should be actually split in two separate articles, first dedicated to "political" exarchs, and second dedicated to "ecclesiastical" exarchs. Such split would be logical, since we already have similar division regarding pages Vicar (ecclesiastical) and Vicarius (political). So, there are many interconnected issues here, and various solutions that are not always consistent with each other. Maybe we should continue to improve the content within the present pages in order to get better view on relevant issues, and in time, with some additional discussions, right solutions will be found.
