Reconstruction proposal

[edit]

I was surprised to see the lede in present tense. This is a former station - with a proposal for its reconstruction. The lede can be changed from "was" to "is under construction" after the contract is awarded and there's a ceremonial ground-breaking. The press release citation which was in the article did not contain "Elmhurst" in its text. It has been deleted. I have added a good citation and quoted from it. Please don't mislead readers that projects of the MTA Capital Plan are actually going to implemented merely by its appearance in the plan. Many projects are planned and not executed. The MTA itself refers to "stations", so that is the correct usage in LIRR-related articles. patsw (talk) 21:06, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Future infobox

[edit]

I have a future infobox for when the MTA finally finishes rebuilding this station. Let me know if this is worth saving. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 22:45, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. However, there's nothing going on there right now, so you might wanna hold onto that infobox for a few more years. Or decades, at the MTA's current rate. epicgenius (talk) 01:51, 7 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's really sad. I didn't get to Elmhurst the last time I was in NYC, although I probably could've looked out the window of a train to try to see as much of the progress on construction as I could. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 01:53, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Originally, funding for the station was part of the current 2015-2019 program. With a revision, only the design portion of the work is part of this program. Construction will take place in the 2020-2024 program.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 18:08, 6 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Here's an idea. If you want the sandbox, take it, work on it, and hold it until that period is done. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 02:05, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't seem like the infobox will need that much work. I've pasted it here, but it's very unlikely this will actually be reopened in 2019. epicgenius (talk) 12:35, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
