No demotion
[edit]The following claims are untrue:"He was, however, demoted after being accused of being non-Aryan (on account of his Jewish grandmother) and, thus, having “snuck into the Wehrmacht”". That's not what the referred article says. Egon Bahr wasn't demoted, he was just thrown from the cadet school and given a civilian position elsewhere. The reason wasn't his Jewish grandmother, but the fact that he hadn't disclosed this and made false pretenses about it. Helmut Schmidt also had a Jewish grand-parent, he still became an officer. --41.246.19.58 (talk) 18:01, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
- Helmut Schmidt and his family succusfully kept it a secret, while Bahr was not succusful keeping it secret 10:35, 21 August 2015 (UTC)78.42.253.241 (talk)
External link?
[edit]Would an interview with transcript with Egon Bahr from 1987 be useful here as an external link? Focus of conversation is nuclear weapons policy. http://openvault.wgbh.org/catalog/V_97C9341C01364C2F83C73596C0BEB882 (I have a conflict of interest; otherwise I would add it myself.)
