Parodies of Trump

[edit]

Shouldnt the parody the WWE did of him and Rosie O Donald be included, i would add it myself but i think someone else would be able to word it better Don.-.J 17:14, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ridiculing Rosie O'Donnell

[edit]

This article completely ignores his ridiculing of Rosie O'Donnell over the last seven months. He has gone on countless shows dehumanizing her; calling her a bull (which you know he means bull d!ke) to a slob. In a 2007 interview with Donny Deutsch, Donald Trump asked Donny if he "aggreed with her lifestyle."

Merge or split?

[edit]

Once his presidency starts we should probably create the article Public image of Donald Trump, and merge this article into it, we can have one article for his political image and his cultural image, or we can have two different articles. ∼∼∼∼ Eric0928Talk 13:36, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Cancelled projects and WP:WEIGHT

[edit]

AJFU and whoever is interested. The "Cancelled" section is well-written and appears well sourced, but compared to what this article covers about stuff that did happen, like the Apprentice etc, theres way to much of it, and the table of contents is... not good. I´d like to cut this down to 2-3 sentences, opinions? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:47, 28 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds okay to me. I have no objection.  AJFU  (talk) 19:54, 28 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Some of it might fit at Filmography of Donald Trump. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:29, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Editor keeps removing Alec Baldwin

[edit]

Luciano2345, you have now removed Baldwin from this article three times, and you have been reverted by me and Coltsfan three times. On WP, we shouldn't WP:EDITWAR, so let's talk. Baldwin is the current SNL-Trump, he has plenty of press to show for it and he has by now done Trump more times than Darrell Hammond. Why remove? It doesn't seem reasonable to me. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:57, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

More parodies or characters based on him?

[edit]

Well there is a character from the Grand Theft Auto game series called Donald Love who is similar to him (not just name wise) and a character from the Planet Sheen cartoon called Tronald Dump. Some more have been mentioned in this talk page but aren't in the actual article. I think they should be added. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 177.227.202.153 (talk) 04:53, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What sources do you suggest? They should be reliable (per WP:RS) and show that someone except the creators noticed the connection and wrote a little about it. Donald Love is mentioned here [2] for example, but as you can see, Trump isn't mentioned at all. A quick search didn't give me anything useful on Planet Sheen, stuff like [3] is not useful on WP. Biff Tannen's casino and penthouse

[edit]

Donald Trump in popular culture#Films now includes a paragraph about the Back to the Future Part II character Biff Tannen who was based on Donald Trump. The sources which note the similarities between Biff's penthouse and casino and Trump's Plaza Hotel seem unclear, so I added a direct quote.[4] According to the sources:

"[I]n the movie, Biff uses the profits from his 27-story casino (the Trump Plaza Hotel, completed in 1984, is 37 floors, by the way) to....", Daily Beast.[5]

"In the movie, Biff Tannen...resides in a palatial penthouse atop a casino, which bears a striking resemblance to the Trump Plaza Hotel, which opened its doors five years before the film premiered, Rolling Stone.[6]

The first thing that threw me off is that the model for Biff's casino is apparently the Plaza Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas,[7] which has no apparent connection to the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City despite the name. The Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino does not particularly resemble the casino in the Movie, but the similarity may just be that it is a casino tower.

Secondly, I wanted to mention the penthouse, because the obvious inspiration is Trump's penthouse at Trump Tower (built in 1983), but the sources don't explicitly make any comparison. I wish there was a transcript of the interview! Kolya Butternut (talk) 04:12, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm ok with the current version. It's a little long, but the sources are good, and I like when people bother to add sources with content on this page ;-) Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:43, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Speaking of looking for sources, Saturday_Night_Live_parodies_of_Donald_Trump#Baldwin_parodies_(2016–present) could use an update, if anyone is interested. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:48, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oprah

[edit]

SixersFanNick, welcome to Wikipedia. I added a bit about Oprah based on sources I found. Note that the interview also is mentioned at Donald Trump 2000 presidential campaign (you may find Veracity of statements by Donald Trump interesting, if you haven't found it yet). If you have other WP:RS, feel free to mention/use them, but on WP, referencing is essential, especially when you write about living people. It's quite doable once you get the hang of it, I recommend reading WP:TUTORIAL on how to include refs. Happy editing! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:12, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Merger Proposal

[edit]
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
The result of this discussion was merge to Donald Trump in popular culture. (Oinkers42) (talk) 16:23, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Haleth: I propose that Trumptendo be merged into this article. Trumptendo is a stub-class article that is unlikely to improve. It is also about a texture pack/re-spriting effort, which is not commonly article worthy. This article seems to be the best place for it. A video game section can be created if need be. (Oinkers42) (talk) 17:01, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Seems reasonable to me. An article about [8] was deleted awhile back. I guess we can add a "Games" section. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:07, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Trumptendo added to article:[10] Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:21, 5 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia?

[edit]

Wikipedia is listed here under literature. It is not popular culture though, it is an online encyclopedia/reference website. I was going to remove it but asking for a clarification here before. There is a mention of Loser.com which perhaps suffices popular culture under memes. Gotitbro (talk) 06:19, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nearing WP:EW

[edit]

@WikiWuff888, hello and welcome to a Wikipedia talk-page. You've added this game [11] I think 4 times to the article now, and you have been reverted 4 times, see WP:EW and WP:COMMUNICATE.

The primary reason you are reverted is that though per the link you add, the game absolutely exists, in WP-land that is not good enough. Check for example the references in the Donald_Trump_in_popular_culture#Games-section. If "your" game is to be included here, you need to cite a decent WP:RS (not a blog, wiki, tweet, etc, etc) who noticed this game and bothered to write something about it.

Also, if you want to make edits to WP that can "stick", you need to learn how to add references correctly, this is essential, see WP:TUTORIAL.

Good luck, hope this helps! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:46, 16 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"attempts to summarize all criticisms as bad-faith ad hominem"

[edit]

The article says: "Orange man bad" attempts to summarize all criticisms of Trump as bad-faith ad hominem about his skin color, and not his policies. But this is not true. Obviously the people saying "orange man bad" are well aware that not all criticism of Trump is about his skin colour! "Orange man" is just a general insulting epithet used to denote Trump, in any kind of criticism.

Likewise: "Tony B. Liar" (for Tony Blair) has often been used in criticisms that do not accuse him of lying; and "Micro$oft" (for Microsoft) has often been used in criticisms that are not about greed or money. Equinox 23:24, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Music taste

[edit]

Unsure where this would belong, since Donald Trump and golf has its own article and the main article is almost completely devoid of anything personal, but Trumps taste in music (and opera) as one of the few things he truly enjoys has received enough coverage that it should be included. Phantom of the Opera and its use during campaign rallies in particular.[12] [13] Trump himself and a book by his press secretary have stated the he loves Andrew Loyd Webber, with Evita and Cats being his other favorites.[14][15] He even blamed Biden for Phantom ending its Broadway run.[16] This feeds into a large point other have made before that his public image is essentially a pastiche of the 1980s [17] The Lincoln Project even did a Phantom parody to hurt Trump [18] A statement by Melania following the assassination attempt also mentions his passion for music.[19]jonas (talk) 10:39, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
