The article says that Spiksley played one game for Corinthian F.C. against Tottenham Hotspur in 1907.
I am rather dubious about this reference. Cavallini's "History of the Corinthian Football Club" [1] lists every Corinthian match and player and there is no mention of Spiksley; nor did Corinthian play Tottenham in 1907, although they played them twice in 1906, winning 6-1 in October and losing 5-0 in December. As a result of the dispute with the FA, Corinthian could not play against any professional clubs from the summer of 1907 until after World War One --Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 11:57, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Adjective "Corinthian"
[edit]Does the adjective "Corinthian" stem from this team and its values, or did they name themselves on the basis of the pre-existing term? --Dweller (talk) 12:39, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
- See wiktionary, which doesn't help... ! --Dweller (talk) 16:41, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
Source on archive.org
[edit]Published in 1906, this book gives the history of the Corinthians until that point. Thought if someone was to expand this article, they'd find it useful. Miyagawa (talk) 11:51, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
Penalties?
[edit]Very recently, Lucy Townsend talked about "the Corinthians, a team who famously would not take a penalty because it would be ungentlemanly": http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-19281103
Has anyone any information on this? If true, I feel it should be entered into the article, because it rounds off the picture of the "non-competitive"/"only for charity" nature of the club. Otto von B. (talk) 17:25, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
