Motto
[edit]Is the motto on the page really the motto? Because if so it needs citation, and it seems pretty negative. —Preceding unsigned comment added by T-Money92 (talk • contribs) 20:10, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
- It's vandalism, the article is heavily vandalised throughout. I went back dozens of revisions: all vandalised to some extent. I gave up trying to find a worthwhile revision to revert back to. Grievous Angel (talk) 10:15, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: move to Churubusco Jr. - Sr. High School. Pretty janitorial and uncontroversial to me, honestly. (non-admin closure) JudgeRM (talk to me) 03:04, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
Churubusco High School → Churubusco Jr. Sr. High School – This school is a Jr Sr high school here: https://k12.niche.com/churubusco-junior-senior-high-school-churubusco-in/ . JJL56 (talk) 01:10, 29 November 2016 (UTC)
- I don't see a need for an extended discussion of this. The webpage confirms that school now uses the Jr. Sr. name. Since someone recently changed the grades covered in this article from 9-12 to 6-12 it appears either the article was wrong or the school has changed to include junior high. If it has changed we should probably mention the change in the history section. Meters (talk) 01:21, 29 November 2016 (UTC)
- I do agree this should be moved but the title should be Churubusco Jr. - Sr. High School per the school's website. This is a non contentious near janitorial move. If there are no objections, I'll close this and move in 24 hours. FYI, JJL56, you probably could have just boldly moved it, but doing it this way is no problem. It has been proposed in this section that Churubusco Jr. - Sr. High School be renamed and moved to Churubusco Jr.–Sr. High School. Churubusco Jr. - Sr. High School → Churubusco Jr.–Sr. High School – or simply Churubusco High School (which is more concise and still seems unambiguous and more likely to be the informal common name). This is an expression of a range from Junior High to Senior High, or perhaps a coupling of a Junior High School and a Senior High School. It seems like it should use a dash or ampersand, not a hyphen with spaces on both sides of it. Alternatively, it is also often called simply Churubusco High School. It could also spell the words out ("Junior–Senior") or omit the dots ("Jr–Sr" or "Jr – Sr" or even "Jr-Sr" seems better than what we now have). But a range should not be expressed with a spaced hyphen. (I can't really think of any appropriate use of a spaced hyphen, despite that we have 800+ articles that currently include that.) The school's website has Churubusco Jr-Sr High School and refers to it as Churubusco High School in a caption, and has Churubusco Jr/Sr High School on its sports schedule. There was a previous RM that moved it away from Churubusco High School to its current title in in 2016. Nevertheless, the Churubusco, Indiana, article simply refers to it as Churubusco High School. — BarrelProof (talk) 07:54, 6 December 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 09:29, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
- Support removing space but oppose removing Jr-Sr altogether since it seems like it is overwhelmingly referred to as Jr-Sr or Junior-Senior in reliable sources, google, news, etc. While the city's website shows the proposed name, Smith–Green Community Schools lists it at it's current name. While it might be a logical assumption a shorter common name, it doesn't appear that is the case. Less-formal announcements from the school don't omit and event the banner/announcement sides they self-refer as the longer name. However, it does appear that there are certain things that are segemented for upper and lower grades in which some times they will refer to Churubusco High School or Churucusco Junior High School, but that is about it. The only other short name I see referenced is CJRSHS or some varient thereof. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tiggerjay (talk • contribs) 05:51, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- Move back to Churubusco High School. The previous RM #Requested move 29 November 2016 was a dubious result, with the nom's rationale This school is a Jr Sr high school here: https://k12.niche.com/churubusco-junior-senior-high-school-churubusco-in/ being based on a dubious source, and the only two !votes being based solely on the school's own website, which should mean discarding them in my opinion. Andrewa (talk) 06:34, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
- With regards to this current RM, I mentioned all manner of other places which references the name, including local media[1] [2], the school and district websites. Even in the URL for the website for the school they use the acronym JSHS, indicating that even when using a short name, they include "JS" for junior senior, instead of simply "HS". The top results Google results[3] for simply "Churubusco High School Indiana", virtually all return with the Jr-Sr prefix, with two expectations. Thus, it would seem misplaced to have them simply be part of an article titled High School, when no sources support that position. The only exceptions seem to be when referring specifically to one aspect of it, such as High School Football. TiggerJay (talk) 17:47, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
- Most of this is irrelevant, as was most of the discussion for the previous RM, which is my main point.
- It's up to those who reject the name Churubusco High School to justify this, in my opinion. The article existed under that name from its creation in March 2006 until #Requested move 29 November 2016 above. Neither the nom nor either of the two other editors who contributed to that RM above gave any valid rationale.
- To me, Churubusco High School is an unambiguous, shorter and therefore more concise form of Churubusco Jr.–Sr. High School. The two names mean exactly the same thing, and in the same words. Andrewa (talk) 06:15, 16 December 2024 (UTC)

Thoughts on Churubusco High School~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 09:29, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
Further thoughts on Churubusco High School... which I support, see above... This is unambiguous and clear, and if we give the article a less concise name it suggests to me that there's another Churubusco High School, which it seems that there is not. One of the longer names Churubusco Junior–Senior High School is already given in the article lead and the others seem to be variations of it, but there's room to explicitly mention others such as Churubusco Jr. - Sr. High School if these are commonly used. And of course redirects from these other names should be there. Andrewa (talk) 21:06, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Support as proposed; clearly the spaced hyphen isn't compatible with our style guidance. The local press seems to be fairly consistent about using some variant of Jr.–Sr. when referring to the school as a whole ([4][5][6]), so I reluctantly have to say it's the common name.
