Seventh octave wonder?

[edit]

Can she sing a C7? I don't really doubt it, just shocked. Antares33712 02:37, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Any mention of the Family Guy episode with her? 68.45.4.118 01:31, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Illness

[edit]

Is she really dead? FoxNews isn't mentioning it on their site, nor is CNN, AP, or NY Times? 65.83.231.100 23:20, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

She was gravely ill with lung cancer. It is starting to go on the wires now that she died on 2 July. Capitalistroadster 01:51, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Voice

[edit]

It would be nice to see a bit more discussion about her voice, as well as the other aspects of her professional career; teachers, influences, etc. Anchoress 07:14, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Anchoress: I wholeheartedly agree. Please feel free researach and add these important details. There are ample sources, including the ones cited in the article. Finell (Talk) 03:14, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Classification

[edit]

This article has been classed as a B class article. It could do with better sourcing from the references. It could also do with an expansion on her training and voice as Anchoress noted. I have rated her importance as mid consistent with the previous Wikiproject bio assessment.Capitalistroadster 01:51, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Smoking

[edit]

It is incorrect that Miss Sills "never smoked." In 1981, Harvey E. Phillips, in the Epilogue (page 239) to Bubbles: An Encore (Grosset & Dunlap), wrote that "Today, Sills confesses, she is lightly addicted to mentholated cigarettes. 'When the going gets rough I close the door, make myself a cup of espresso and light up a cigarette. That's a new luxury for me.'" Ephraem 02:38, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry my bad. I thought I read somewhere she was one of the nonsmokers who developed lung cancer, like Dana Reeve, et al. Thanks for the correction. Quis separabit? 23:24, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Sills three queens.jpg

[edit]

Image:Sills three queens.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I gave it a B because it has a lot of good info (mostly derived from the internet), but it is by no means complete. As to priority, Sills is a high priority opera singer, but opera is sort of a niche topic (sadly), so except for the hughest stars, like Pavarotti (pun intended), I don't think opera singers can get much higher than "mid". -- Ssilvers 02:08, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
