Article improvement

[edit]

For those looking to improve this article, I recommend it be reorganized to follow WP:WPSCH/AG#OS. Hwy43 (talk) 05:44, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Meters, looks like you are close to completing your major improvement to this article. You may want to consider adding this article to Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge#Article achievements when done. Definitely in scope of the challenge and it would help celebrate your efforts. Cheers, Hwy43 (talk) 02:27, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Taking my longer than I thought. One section is about all I can stand to do at a time. Meters (talk) 02:31, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

championships

[edit]

The provincial; championships section may be incomplete as I have not been able to locate a source for older results. Meters (talk) 22:29, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Teams

[edit]

Information on which sports have junior teams is not complete as some sports do not currently have web pages. This can probably be updated after the spring sports start. Meters (talk) 03:43, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Meters, while this may not have been accurate, it was an attempt to fix a verbose ten-word section heading. Would you please generate something more short and simple? Hwy43 (talk) 04:13, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Does this work? Hwy43 (talk) 04:20, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's good. Why are you bothering to nitpick the rewrite while it's still in progress? If you want to help I suggest that you either pick a section and rewrite and source it, or wait until the entire article is redone in a day or so before finetuning things. Meters (talk) 04:30, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I really appreciate you taking on the much-needed improvements to this article that I just stumbled on recently, and your usual high-quality contributions. However, I am not fond of my helpful minor edits, mostly copyediting, to be negatively characterized as nitpicking. Further, this edit summary was unfortunate. Accidental errors happen to all of us while editing and there is no need to scorn seasoned editors with such edit summaries that don't do the same when fixing those of others. It sounds like you would prefer me to stand down until you are done the rewrite, which I can do. Just let me know when you are done and I'll swing back (though note I will likely revert to sporadic editing once back to work in the new year). Hwy43 (talk) 04:56, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Will do. I should be done tomorrow. I appreciate your improvements. No offense was intended with that edit summary (I certainly make enough mistakes myself). Meters (talk) 05:48, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to hear no offense was intended, especially given that it would have been quite unlike you to intend to do so. Cheers, Hwy43 (talk) 05:58, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

school colours

[edit]

I've removed this from the page: " Jim Sawchuck, Bev Facey's first principal, chose blue and gold as the school's colours after the Winnipeg Blue Bombers' colours." There's quite possibly some truth to it, but it's unsourced and likely to be unverifiable by anyone other than a school insider, and the school clearly uses blue and yellow, rather than the Blue Bomber's blue and gold colour scheme. Meters (talk) 21:35, 1 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed this alumna. There is no source for her attendance in this article, her article does not mention any high school, and I have been unable to find any reliable sources. This source https://web.archive.org/web/20140716005303/http://www.dancespirit.com/2009/03/Dance-team_diva_Kickline_queen_Commercial_champ_Keltie_Colleen_can_do_it_all/ mentions her busing into nearby Edmonton to attend Victoria School of the Arts but that is an elementary to senior high school. It's certainly possible that she also attended Bev Facey. There are sources out there that mention Bev Facey but none of them are reliable, and some are simply repeating what Wikipedia claims. This user-generated trivia page (not WP:RS) on IMDB https://m.imdb.com/name/nm2521370/trivia claims she graduated from Bev Facey in 2000. Can anyone provide a reliable source to confirm this? Meters (talk) 04:01, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed Cam Ward as an alumnus. His article now claims that he attended Salisbury Composite High School. The claim appears to be sourced with now-dead sources, but those sources were in the article before the high school claims were added. I added Cam to this article during a substantial rewrite in 2016-2017, when his article claimed he had attended Bev Facey (with the same refs). I noted at the time that the attendance sources in his article were dead (one is actually available as a partial archive, but it does not include the high school claim) but I did not realize that the high school claimed had been flipping back and forth between Bev Facey and Salsibury, and that the dead refs may never have mentioned his high school. Meters (talk) 04:47, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the high school claim from his article and explained the situation on his talk page. Meters (talk) 05:10, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
