Spelling of given name

[edit]

The player's first name is Beram, not Biram.

It is actually pronounced ['be:.ram] with a long vowel and a penultimate stress.

He is also listed as Beram by the Israel Football Association: http://eng.football.org.il/NationalTeam/Pages/NationalTeamPlayerDetails.aspx?PLAYER_ID=9586&NATIONAL_TEAM_ID=3

Please correct the article's title. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.126.9.99 (talk) 21:30, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This players name is Beram not Baram, he is listed as Beram on the IFA website, Celtic website and called Beram by the BBC, this is clearly a mistake by FIFA. Adam4267 (talk) 18:04, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also his player of the month award from the SPL said Beram. Adam4267 (talk) 23:07, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Statistics

[edit]

The statistics are completely wrong for this page. According to this he has played over 200 games for Celtic despite only being there a year. Furthermore the amount of goals he is alleged to have scored is ridiculous. I assume someone has sabotaged the statistics, and it is not the first time I have seen this on wikipedia. If someone has the correct statistics from a reliable source please change them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jimmymc1979 (talkcontribs) 18:32, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have changed the statistics. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jimmymc1979 (talkcontribs) 18:34, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It happens, vandalism is a very common thing on Wikipedia. Especially with Old Firm footballers. All you can do is revert it as you see it. Adam4267 (talk) 18:46, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Arab-Israeli or just Israeli

[edit]

Although that IP was edit warring, being disruptive and mounting personal attacks the point remains, Arab-Israeli or just Israeli? samtar whisper 21:57, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Israeli. Introducing Kayal in the opening sentence as "Arab-Israeli" is in my view problematic for the following reasons:
1. He is notable for being a professional and international footballer, not because of what personal background he comes from. WP:OPENPARA advises not stressing ethnicity in the opening sentence in these cases.
2. It's legitimises the frankly racist position that despite being citizens of the state Arabs are inherently not "real" Israelis, only "Arab-Israelis", with the unqualified designation "Israeli" reserved for Jews only. It is basically as if we reserved the descriptor "English" for those adjudged to be of pure English stock only, and went around introducing others as "African-English", "Jewish-English" or "Irish-English" at the top of their articles while saying "it's very notable that he's black/Jewish/Irish/whatever but plays for England". It's just unseemly.
3. Please note I'm not saying we shouldn't mention Kayal's Arab background in the lead at all, just not in this way. It should go somewhere later in the lead, that's all.
Cheers, hope this helps. —  Cliftonian (talk)  06:57, 25 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
