Legal for US End Users?
[edit]Somebody needs to start a section and get research going on the legality of end users viewing the streaming video of copyrighted works under United States Federal Law. We know that the Defendant's Intention is irrelevant, thus an Innocent Mistake or unknowingly downloading infringing content is not a defense. However, the question is whether viewing Streaming constitutes "copying" given there's never a full copy of the file on your system. The other question is whether the end user is liable for Contributory Infringement by enabling the poster's copying of the file to you. But then, if you're not recieiving a copy, then he's not sending a copy. So does anyone have any legal research on this, or at least a link to another successful suit by the MPAA against a streaming site FOR STREAMING (rather than for Having/Displaying-in-Public full versions of copyrighted works)?
