capital of the Babil Governorate?

[edit]

The content used to be:

Al-Mada'in is a district capital in the Babil Governorate of Iraq.

... but Babil Governorate says that al Hillah is the capital!

Anyway, I replaced the text, feel free to pu it back in if you have more info. flammifertalk 17:08, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh. "a district capital", not "the district capital". My bad. Still, I prefer to leave it ow until I know whether it's the same city or not. flammifertalk 17:22, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seems to be different cities, the coordinates ({{coor title dms|33|09|00|N|44|37|00|E}} are not the same, though I'd find it surprising that there'd be two Al-Mada'in around Bagdad ... to research. flammifertalk 06:12, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is an error in the Google Earth placemark for this article. The article itself seems fine. The Google Earth placemark is not in the correct place and incorrectly states that Al-Mada'in is a district capitol in the governate of Babil. Not so. There IS an Al-Mada'in DISTRICT in Babil Governate. The capitol of Al-Mada'in District is Mahmudiya. However, Al-Mada'in District has nothing to do geographically with Al-Mada'in which is the location of the ancient cities of Seleucia and Ctesiphon and is the present day Salman Pak.
