Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page
[edit]Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Closed
[edit]This is an Iraqi base. The article however focusses almost entirely on US forces, going so far as to allege it was closed when US forces left. I assume that Iraqi forces actually took command of the base at that time, and remain there in large numbers.Royalcourtier (talk) 08:08, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
Order of Battle (OOB) Section is Incomplete (It shows only F/A-18D squadrons)
[edit]The order of battle section lists only VMFA F/A-18D squadrons. There were many other squadrons based at Al Asad (AV-8Bs, KC-130s, F/A-18s, etc.).
As currently written, the order of battle section misleads the reader into believing that Al Asad only hosted Marine F/A-18Ds. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.210.26.225 (talk) 18:47, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

Early casualty reports
[edit]Some early casualty reports appeared on this page, citing a tweet from filmmaker Mark Hughes - this doesn't meet the standard for reliable sources, and Hughes himself seems to have retracted this report in a later tweet:
https://twitter.com/markhughesfilms/status/1214695879300407296
I would suggest we wait and see on this - likely to be lots of unreliable information flying around, particularly if this is an ongoing attack. Here's hoping the casualty reports were untrue. Juansmith (talk) 00:11, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
Previous report and false report
[edit]On December 3, 2019, Reuters reported that on December 3, 2019, five rockets had landed on on Ain al-Asad airbase and that there were no injuries.[1] According to a January 3, 2020 Reuters article, a "security source" inside Al Asad Airbase and a "local official at a nearby town" said that the reports that the Al Asad Airbase were under attack, were false.[2] These reports on Twitter temporarily caused a rally of U.S. and Brent crude oil futures, according to Reuters.[2]Oceanflynn (talk) 00:22, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

Discuss move to Ayn al-Asad Airbase
[edit]From what it seems like, Ayn is necessary to the name of this base like New is necessary to the name New York. Also typically "al" is not capitalized and there is a hyphen, al-Asad. If authors on other pages want to style the name of the base properly, they have to cover over the name of this page, i.e. Ayn al-Asad Airbase. It should have the proper name right here. Deployed Squadrons
[edit]VMFA-115 flying F/A-18A+ were deployed to Al Asad Airbase from March 2008 to August 2008. 136.34.27.64 (talk) 01:52, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
