There are 90 Paralympic competitors from Poland taking part in the 2016 Rio games, and not 1, as stated in: http://www.przegladsportowy.pl/igrzyska-olimpijskie/rio-2016,paraolimpiada-polacy-beda-walczyc-o-medale-w-rio-2016,artykul,717307,1,13294.html 89.67.9.64 (talk) 10:07, 8 September 2016 (UTC)

The subject of the article lacks a viable claim to independent encyclopedic notability. The overwhelming bulk of the article relates to his tragic death along with pretty much all of the news coverage. Paralympic athletes are not presumptively notable unless they win a medal. Absent that we have a pretty textbook case of WP:BLP1E. The simple fact is that this article would not exist if it were not for our obsession with current events, many of which have little or no long term significance. See also the discussion on the article's talk page. Ad Orientem (talk) 16:32, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose he has competed in many international events (including 2 Paralympics) which indicates notability. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 16:50, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
- Ummm... no, it doesn't. -Ad Orientem (talk) 17:00, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose - he is a noted paralympian which has competed in two paralympic games so far. plus several other international events. IDONTLIKEIT is irrelevant as related to the fact that this article was created after his death.--BabbaQ (talk) 16:55, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
- Paralympians are not presumptively notable unless they have a medal. The article wax created after his death because there was no viable claim to notability. The only claim now is based on news coverage since his death which clearly falls under BLP1E. IDONTLIKEIT has nothing to do with this. No one is has cited any guideline that establishes his notability. -Ad Orientem (talk) 17:01, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
- Guidelines are guidelines.. here is an obvious keep article. That are of value for the project. That the article was created after death is irrelevant. He has been part of two paralympics, and has also been a powerlifter, He was also part of the war in Iraq. --BabbaQ (talk) 17:11, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
- Seriously? So you are suggesting that any athlete who has competed internationally and is a war veteran should be presumtpively notable? Really? There is nothing of lasting historical significance here. This guy is/was an athlete, one of thousands. Forget long term history, ten years from now the only people who are going to remember his name are people who study sports trivia.Wikipedia is not news, or an indiscriminate collection of information. Being in the news does not in itself mean that someone should be the subject of a Wikipedia article. -Ad Orientem (talk) 17:13, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
- As you like guidelines, here: An athlete is presumed to be notable if the person has actively participated in a major amateur or professional competition or won a significant honor and so is likely to have received significant coverage in reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject.. Clearly notable by this guideline. He has participated actively in the Paralympics and as well as a Powerlifter. Also, I am not into people with magical balls who claims to be able to see into the future. --BabbaQ (talk) 17:19, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
- Fair enough. If you can cite significant reliable source coverage about his athletic career that is not linked to his death, I will concede his notability. -Ad Orientem (talk) 17:23, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
- Perhaps it would be wise to address his "13 gold and one silver medals in world competitions" that he won during his powerlifting days. (Oklahoma Star)—SomeoneNamedDerek (talk) 17:35, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
- That would work. Show me some RS sources for that and add it to the article and I think this discussion is effectively over. P.S. I don't think that link is going to where you think it is. -Ad Orientem (talk) 17:48, 18 September 2016 (UTC)

- Oppose per above. We can always add more information about his time in the Iraq-Iran war, his powerlifting days, and the international events he has participated in. Having participated in the 2012 Summer Paralympics as well doesn't make sense for him to be merged into the 2016 Summer Paralympics, either. —SomeoneNamedDerek (talk) 16:55, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
- Absolutely oppose This proposal makes absolutely no sense at all! Why on earth should the biography of one individual athlete be merged into the overview article of Rio Paralympics. This needs a WP:SNOWCLOSE. -- Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 18:01, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
