Helen Elaine Maguire[1] MP BEM is a British Liberal Democrat politician who has been the Member of Parliament for Epsom and Ewell since 2024. She gained the seat from former Conservative minister Chris Grayling.[2]

Early life[edit]

Maguire studied French and German at university. She gained her officer's commission from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.[3] She is a former captain in the Royal Military Police who served in Bosnia and Iraq.

Maguire received a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the 2023 Birthday Honours for services to the community in Claygate, Surrey, where she lives with her family.[4]

Parliamentary career[edit]

Maguire won the seat of Epsom and Ewell in the 2024 general election with 20,674 votes (37.9%). She had a majority of 3,686 over the second-placed Conservative candidate. There were seven candidates, and a turnout of 70%.[5]
