Rule to Follow

[edit]

Only people who have actually declared themselves atheists belong on this page. Not people you would like to be atheist or people who you think are not intensely religious. Do not put an "American Atheists" label on whatever page you like. This is a reference work.

Emily Mortimer

Emily is British, not American. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.1.98.116 (talk) 23:05, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

James von Brunn

[edit]

I don't think he's an atheist. There is no source for him being one. Just because he adored Hitler (who was actually Catholic, not an Atheist)does not mean he was Atheist. He should be taken off the list. 98.28.163.219 (talk) 21:21, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jim Jones

[edit]

Jim Jones was an atheist? News to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.254.14.80 (talk) 04:46, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wil Wheaton

[edit]

He's self-identified as an atheist on his Tumblr page: http://wilwheaton.tumblr.com/post/5275093136/via-im-an-atheist-imgur — Preceding unsigned comment added by Keovar (talkcontribs) 06:04, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Questioning the category

[edit]

Why should there be such a category as American atheists when many more significant categories of human contribution to society and history have been removed? To merely not believe or disbelieve is hardly a measure of one's excellence. It's a bucket into which such persons have dropped. MaynardClark (talk) 02:44, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Good question. I see it hasn't been answered. I came here because I have a question of my own. How would a person go about finding the category "American Christians?" HaarFager (talk) 10:53, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
