Revision as of 11:01, 6 June 2022

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on June 2, 2022.

English Clasico

Can't find reliable independent secondary sources asserting this particular rivalry to be the English Clasico. Iseult Δx parlez moi 16:34, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Extreme porn

This seems to be a very specific target for a rather generic pair of terms. I don't think these should necessarily be deleted, but there must be a broader target, perhaps to a subsection to be added to Pornography. BD2412 T 05:10, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep both - "Extreme pornography" is specific terminology used in UK law and the most likely search words used to find the legislation. The title for the article about the legislation doesn't mention extreme pornography so will be hard to find without the redirect. IndigoBeach (talk) 19:31, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Extreme cold

There are kinds of extreme cold that are not particularly "weather" related, e.g., Absolute zero. Perhaps disambiguate in some way. BD2412 T 05:15, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'd support disambiguating. Rubbish computer Ping me or leave a message on my talk page 16:39, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Extreme heat

There are kinds of extreme heat that are not particularly related to a "heat wave", e.g., the temperatures inside stars, and temperatures achieved in various manufacturing activities and experiments. Perhaps disambiguate in some way. BD2412 T 05:18, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think there should be something, minimally, linking to extreme heat -- having added a bunch of links through this redirect: much of it is weather related, Sadads (talk) 22:54, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Tiquan Forbes

see Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2021 November 10#Ti'Quan_Forbes Joeykai (talk) 03:00, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that Forbes is no longer part of the White Sox, thus making the redirect useless. So, the redirect should be to his current team, which is the Arizona Diamondbacks, in a section could be written, or previous bio could be restored and revised. Cherrell410 (talk) 22:41, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can make the section under the page Arizona Diamondbacks minor league players that is about Forbes, if needed. Cherrell410 (talk) 22:42, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not. These pages are not meant for just every minor league player. Just notable ones and Forbes is in no way notable to be on there.-- Yankees10 01:22, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

West England

Looking at the map on the article, this looks like too narrow of a target for this redirect. feminist (talk) Слава Україні! 04:00, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the current target is wrong (and I can't think why I pointed Western England there): West of England is a modern regional authority within the West Country. Retarget both to West Midlands (region), which is broadly the part of England immediately east of Wales. Narky Blert (talk) 07:32, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete both as too vague and too ambiguous to be useful and unlink from, or repipe, the articles it appears in. Neither term, as far as I know, has ever had anything approaching a specific meaning. SpinningSpark 12:28, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak Delete The current redirect to West of England is just wrong. The West of England is just a rebranded name for the former county of Avon and part of Western England rather than the whole, so is an inappropriate redirect. West Country would be a better redirect but as others have pointed Western England or West England could refer to more northernly areas of Western England as well. Surf beach

I added a hatnote to the current target to the Australian localities of Surf Beach, New South Wales and Surf Beach, Victoria but am wondering what, if anything, is the primary topic for this term. It seems very generic, and could simply refer to a beach where people surf? When Surf beach was created it was a redirect to Beach. Also note the only current article to link to either is Woodside Beach, Victoria which links to Surf Beach clearly in the generic sense. A7V2 (talk) 09:35, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: At the time the redirects were created, the NSW and Victoria pages did not exist yet. As noted, Surf beach was originally created as a redirect to Beach, but I changed it in 2014 after I was reverted for adding a corresponding Template:Redirect on Beach per WP:DIFFCAPS. AFAIK going through Category:Surfing locations, there is no other generic article or list that is specifically about "beaches where people surf", and there cannot be dictionary definitions listed. Of course, it would be fairly easy to be bold and remove the redirect and create a disambiguation page now. All three do not get very much daily page views, a primary topic based on usage is not statistically significant.[1] My question is whether do the NSW and Victoria pages even pass WP:NGEO to warrant separate pages at this time? The only sources cited on those two pages is census information, the geographical names board, and OpenStreetMap without any other independent, third-party reliable sources. But that is probably for another discussion venue. Zzyzx11 (talk) 10:24, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can't (or at least won't...) comment on the notability of the two Australian articles except to say for the Victorian one I never knew it was a locality before seeing the article, just a beach. Yes I think a DAB would work. There's no wikitionary entry so we could either put at the top something like "A surf beach is a beach commonly used for surfing...", or just go straight to "Surf beach may refer to..." and then list beach and surfing under see also, perhaps accompanied by Beach (disambiguation) and Surfing (disambiguation). Mindanao State University - Marawi (main)

Implausible search term. Double disambiguated with both dash and bracket forms of disambiguation, and "main" is not used by the subject as a disambiguator. The article content in the page history is just an unattributed copy of Mindanao State University. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 17:34, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Diva (main)

I don't see what "main" is supposed to mean in this context or why it's a useful disambiguator for this topic. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 17:30, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Broward County John Doe (1979)

Redirect to a page where there is no mention of this topic. ...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 17:27, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Minho(main character in The Maze Runner Trilogy)

Spacing error between the title and the disamiguator, capitalisation error (Trilogy should be lowercase), disambiguator is too long to be a reasonable search term - delete 192.76.8.78 (talk) 17:24, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Green Book (Tibetan document))

Yet more useless WP:UNNATURAL disambiguation errors with doubled brackets. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 16:56, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Harvester (butterfly))

Another batch of redirects with malformed double bracket disambiguators. Delete per WP:UNNATURAL. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 16:41, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sliders, Part One (Sliders episode))

Another batch of redirects with erroneous double bracket disambiguators. Delete per WP:UNNATURAL 192.76.8.78 (talk) 16:20, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Implausible redirects, doubled brackets on the numeric identifier. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 16:13, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Modern Love (song))

More redirects with malformed double bracket disambiguators, delete per WP:UNNATURAL 192.76.8.78 (talk) 15:57, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

2008 Grand Finale (Grand Finale (V8 Supercars))

Ambiguous, implausible and useless redirect - Nested disambiguators and pointlessly disambiguating "2008 Grand Finale" with "Grand Finale". Completely implausible search term. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 15:50, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete Why would "V8 Supercars" be a disambiguator for "Grand Finale" as a disambiguator for "2008 Grand Finale"? –LaundryPizza03 (d) 00:23, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - Needlessly redundant redundancy to this redirect that makes it both implausible as a search term or as something someone would want to link to from another article. "2008 Grand Finale (V8 Supercars)" or the naturalistic "2008 V8 Supercars Grand Finale" would both be more reasonable redirects. HumanBodyPiloter5 (talk) 15:30, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Gio (Gio (singer))

Completely implausible and useless redirect - Nested disambiguators, title of the redirect is diambiguated by the title of the article, dismbiguating a word with itself etc. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 15:44, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sin Tí (Yolandita Monge song))

Another batch of redirects with malformed disambiguators, i.e. double closing brackets. Delete per WP:UNNATURAL. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 15:37, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Margaret of France (1553–1615))

Another batch of redirects from titles with malformed disambiguators. These all have doubled closing brackets and as such are implausible search terms that should be deleted per WP:UNNATURAL. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 14:52, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Delete All of these had a spike in views last Nov, not really sure why, but still delete all. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 01:47, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment The Celivarone article was at the malformed title for several months before being fixed, so there is always the chance that deletion could break external links. The others were either momentarily at the malformed title, were the result of a duplicate article that was redirected (Atomic Kitten; should have been speedy deleted), or was just a redirect to begin with. Mdewman6 (talk) 20:28, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all due to malformed modifier --Lenticel (talk) 02:41, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cupid.27s Chokehold

Strange sort of not quite percent encoded title. For context - you cannot use apostrophes in URLs for technical reasons so they have to be escaped as "%27". ".27" is complete nonsesnse though and isn't used in any kind of encoding scheme. This isn't a plausible redirect as this is essentially a redirect from a broken URL, someone copying and pasting from the adress bar isn't going to come across this. The correctly encoded Cupid's Chokehold cannot be created as it is the same page as Cupid's Chokehold. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 14:00, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Delete @Eviolite has an interesting point, but it shouldn't matter anymore. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 01:45, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

R&B/Gospel

WP:XY. This redirect combines two genes of music together giving it no clear target, Rhythm and blues and Gospel. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 13:30, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oklahoma festival shooting

This is a redirect left over from a page move to an article that I have redirected to List of mass shootings in the United States in 2022. Unlike the other page move redirects from this article's history, this one in particular doesn't make sense to retarget to the list page as it has no year disambiguator, and statistically speaking it's likely that this incident was not the only shooting to have taken place at a festival in Oklahoma, making it a vague and ambiguous title. There are no incoming links to worry about. ansh.666 02:26, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cache in general

I don't think that "foo in general"→"foo" redirects are particularly helpful from a searching perspective, the title is more of a sentence fragment rather than a topic. The target here is also not a "general" article, if this is kept it should be retargeted. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 01:15, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hip- hop music

Inplausible/WP:UNNATURAL spacing errors. See also the recent nomination at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2022 May 13#Hip- hop which resulted in one of these being deleted. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 01:01, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DElete Happy Editing--IAmChaos 01:43, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Čanada

According to my searches this is either the Slovak(?) name for Canada, in which case it should be deleted per WP:RLOTE, or it's the creator sticking random accents on words again, in which case it should be deleted as nonsense. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 00:57, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ángel (Akon song)

I can find no evidence that this song has ever been titled with an accent in English. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 00:51, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Blueäs Clues

A batch of redirects from titles that have had their apostrophes replaced with ä's. No idea what these are supposed to be about, creator was CIR blocked in part for making weird redirects. The last one also has a spelling mistake in it. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 00:45, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
