It was the 80th edition of the Italian Open and is classified as an ATP Tour Masters 1000 event on the 2023 ATP Tour and a WTA 1000 event on the 2023 WTA Tour that was non-mandatory but was upgraded from 900 to 1,000 points.[1][2]
