editEtymology 2
editWithin Vietic, certain languages possess a loan from the same source, cf. Pong kɲuk⁷ and similar forms in several Muong lects with tone B1/D1 (Muong Bi nhúc). The corresponding Vietnamese form would be the unattested *nhúc, which was apparently lost after the Common-Viet-Muong stage during the development of Vietnamese and did not replace the native Vietic word thịt.
