editHi. You might perhaps be interested in working on these lists of missing words: User:SemperBlotto/sandbox. A large proportion of them are from the fields of chemistry and biochemistry. Thanks! Equinox ◑ 20:19, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
disvicarage request
editHi. I can only see this in one specific text; but I checked and the text does say that: "The living is a disvicarage, in the archdeaconry of Stafford". Do you think it could be an error, e.g. an omitted word ("the living is a distant vicarage" or something)? Or have you seen it in other texts beyond this one oddity? - @Equinox If you mean "The Grand Junction Railway Companion to Liverpool, Manchester, and Birmingham", it's used there both hyphenated and unhyphenated, as are related terms like "discuracy" and "dis-rectory", so its use is deliberate. But Google Books and IA each have both forms in other works, also. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 21:18, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
- It would be really helpful for such unusual words if you could add these comments at WT:REE. Thanks. Equinox ◑ 04:14, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
- My favourite "railway-only" word was autobuffet, which probably wouldn't pass CFI. But my work used to take me through Leicester so often that I fell in love. Equinox ◑ 09:20, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
