editI finally finished your List of NFL players that you started in 2015. I've been working on it on-and-off since 2016. Now that all of the names are disambiguated and referenced, I am wondering if there is some way to automatically generate the team lists with as little fuss as possible? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 17:37, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- Wow, I had forgotten about that project! Nice work! The list I was using does not sort by team, and I'm not aware of a way to automatically generate team lists. -- Tavix (talk) 17:59, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- At PFR, scroll down to "Frivolities" and click on Players who played for multiple teams. If you enter the same team twice, it generates an all-time roster. For example, here is the list of Arizona Cardinals players. Click "All Players" at that link to see the list (2101 players). There is also a "share & export" button for Excel and stuff.
- So basicallly, I am wondering if there is a way to generate a list of Cardinals players on-wiki based off of linking the PFR URLs up to the URLs at our master list (List of NFL players). Thoughts? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 19:47, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- Since there's Excel export, you could export it and use Excel to format it for Wikipedia. I wouldn't know how to link to PFR URLs automatically though. -- Tavix (talk) 20:45, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks Tavix. I actually have already figured out a way of doing it. I use LinkClipper to extract URLs from a team's all-time roster from PFR, and then I use conditional formatting to highlight duplicate URLs in my master Excel sheet of wiki-linked NFL players. It doesn't take too long. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 02:18, 9 October 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to participate in a research
editHello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind Regards,
