Manual of Style, talk pages and renaming pages
editI've noticed that you have ignored my request to enclose song titles in double quotation marks. You may believe that song titles shouldn't be enclosed in such quotation marks, but this is part of the Manual of Style, to which all users are expected to adhere. If you disagree with this part of the MoS, please explain why at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style, but do not simply ignore it — or any policy or guideline page — without any explanation or discussion.
You should also know that ignoring messages from other users is considered impolite and unproductive behaviour, as is removing comments from your talk page without archiving them. talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments is considered bad practice, even if you meant well.
Also, it appears that recently you carried out a copy and paste page move from Dance Floor Anthem to Dance Floor Anthem (I Don't Want to Be In Love). Please do not move articles by copying and pasting them because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself using the move link at the top of the page, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thanks. Non-free use disputed for Image:Yellowcard way away.jpg
editThis file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Yellowcard way away.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 12:03, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Marylin Manson covers
editPlease note that according to WP:FUC#3, low-resolution versions of fair use images should be used to better justify their useage on Wikipedia. Since album covers should not be displayed larger than 250 pixels wide in articles, it is unnecessary to upload them at a higher resolution, and doing so only work against our fair use claim. --Fritz S. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Tie Up My Hands screenshot.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:Tie Up My Hands screenshot.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:49, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Manual of Style (again)
editI've noticed that you have ignored my message asking you to enclose song titles in double quotation marks. Please don't, because all editors are expected to abide by the Wikipedia:Manual of Style, which stipulates that song titles are to be enclosed in double quotation marks. Replaceable fair use Image:Young_and_Restless.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Young_and_Restless.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 16:41, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:So_They_Say_-_Antidote_for_Irony.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:So_They_Say_-_Antidote_for_Irony.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Have to query why you have placed "Turn Up Your Stereo" and "Ruby Wednesday" as singles by Eskimo Joe there is no reference material that I can find that suggests that they were ever released as singles. Both songs recieved extensive airplay, particularly on Triple J but were not singles and can only be found on the band's 1999 EP - Eskimo Joe. I am proposing to make the change deleting these as singles unless you can provide references to show that they were actual singles. Dan arndt 08:52, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Youtube links
editPlease do not add links to Youtube music videos. They are probably copyright violations. Youtube's copyright policy is to leave copyrighted content on the site until someone complains - Wikipedia's external link guidelines require all external links not to infringe on anyone's copyright. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Famous Last Words Promo.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:Famous Last Words Promo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 13:40, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Notability of The Medic Droid (band)
editA tag has been placed on The Medic Droid (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NeilN 08:41, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- Please read Wikipedia:Notability (music). Articles on bands are created after they're notable, not before. NeilN 08:51, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Sneaky Sound System - Goodbye.jpg

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Hello! Civility
editHi, I do see now that the site is valid but you can hopefully see why anyone could easily imagine it was simply more vandalism. I don't (ever) visit his MySpace page unless I'm checking info for this wiki so no, I never saw any announcement. Please don't refer to me as a cunt or assume I'm not acting in good faith. Fair use rationale for Image:Cute Without the 'E' (Cut from the Team) screenshot.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Cute Without the 'E' (Cut from the Team) screenshot.jpg.
Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Geniac 15:57, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Sneaky Sound System - Sneaky Sound System.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Sneaky Sound System - Sneaky Sound System.jpg.
Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:54, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Citing sources
editWelcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Hook Me Up, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. This is especially important when dealing with biographies of living people, but applies to all Wikipedia articles. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are already familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add your original reference to the article. Thank you. Lillygirl (talk) 12:34, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
Copy and paste move
editThank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that recently you carried out a copy and paste page move to Dance Floor Anthem (I Don't Want to Be In Love). Please do not move articles by copying and pasting them because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Album title
editPlease do not add a rumored title to the article on Ashlee's third album or try to move it to that title. There has been no confirmation of that title from any official source, and a few days ago she said that she will choose the title over the holidays. Everyking (talk) 22:17, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
Re: Your move of "Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off"
editCould you please use edits and move summaries, and explain why you have moved the page in question? I will revert your move otherwise; its title was fine before your move, and quite frankly, I do not understand why you have moved it. Thanks in advance. Qwerty (talk) 06:12, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Make 5 Wishes
editHey there TBSfan1223! I was just looking over the Make 5 Wishes articles, and I'd like to know what you think about merging the individual volume pages (1) and (2) into the main article? We'd keep all of the current info, just it'd be on one page instead of spead out over three. I think some around here would object to have an individual article for each volume of a comic book that only has two volumes. I don't, personally, but unless we can flesh them out they might be in danger of being deleted at some point down the road. Anyway, any opinion of yours is appreciated. If its ok I'll add a merging tag to the articles and do it sometime in the next few days. Think outside the box 11:45, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Marilyn Manson - Portrait of an American Family.jpg
editThank you for uploading Image:Marilyn Manson - Portrait of an American Family.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. Orphaned non-free media (Image:The Bird and the Worm Promo.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:The Bird and the Worm Promo.jpg.
Fair use rationale for Image:AfterDarkCover.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:AfterDarkCover.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 16:38, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia size limitations on non-free images
editRegarding the huge album art work images you've uploaded, you may want to have a look at the Wikipedia copyright policy for non-free image sizes at Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums. Just letting you know. Cheers. Esradekan Gibb "Talk" 10:24, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Hip Hip Hooray
editI've noticed from your recent edits to Hip Hip Hooray (song) that you either don't understand, or are choosing to ignore the wikipedia policy on the use of copyrighted images. Just letting you know I'll now be handing this over to an administrator to see if they can explain it to you a little better over why you can't use hugely oversize album images in infoboxes. Esradekan Gibb "Talk" 07:37, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
- Esradekan is correct when he says that, apart from in exceptional circumstances, album covers should be no larger than 300x300 pixels. The non-free content criteria are quite clear that there should be minimal use of non-free material, and uploading images that are far larger than they need to be is obviously not consistent with this. The dimensions I quoted have come from a longstanding consensus of editors who work on album articles and of editors who work with non-free content. However, more concerning than your insistence on using images that are too large is the edit warring you have been taking part in- rather than discussing the matter, be it on the article talk page, user talk page, or even through use of edit summaries, you have chosen to mindless revert another user's good faith (and beneficial) edits. This is not acceptable. J Milburn (talk) 14:27, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Satan (song)

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. You are now a Reviewer
editHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:15, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

TBSfan1223, I've reverted every single one of your edits that deal with categories, as they were all made out of process. Please nominate the article for renaming at WP:RM before even thinking about dealing with the categories, which would require nominations at WP:CFD. You created a big mess that required a big cleanup. — ξxplicit 22:29, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
A question
editI saw your discography and I read that you have the 30 Seconds to Mars debut album. Do you know when the album was first released in Australia? Or on April 6, 2007 there was a re released?--79.52.176.116 (talk) 19:28, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
Hi! Great work on Outrageous Fortune, however I've reverted you change of "season" to "series": "season" is the NZ English term (see the TV3 site for an example). In general, per WP:ENGVAR and WP:RETAIN, local forms of English are used. TFOWR 15:05, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
Get 'Em Girls
editHi there, I've noticed you keep moving both the Get 'Em Girls song and album articles to Get 'em Girls (song) when really theres no need for that because theres only one article called Get 'Em Girls. The only reason the album article is called Get 'Em Girls (album) is because Get 'Em Girls has already been taken by the song. And please stop changing the 'Em to 'em. Just because in the song cover it has it as 'em doesn't mean that's how it's set out to look like. In media articles, her website, facebook, twitter, myspace etc.. they've all mentioned it as Get 'Em Girls not Get 'em Girls. PLEASE STOP! ozurbanmusic (talk) 22:06, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

The Almighty Johnsons
editTry using edit summaries, especially when you make major changes, as in The Almighty Johnsons. I almost reverted your edits, as large slabs of the article disappearing without an edit summary looks pretty much like vandalism. Fortunately I worked out what you were up to before I did that. You might even raise such changes for discussion on the talk page before doing them. Also, there's more to splitting off a "List of" article than just cutting and pasting a section of text. I put the backlinks and transclusion in and a few other things. And where did the number of episodes in series 2 being 13 come from? Please cite. Barsoomian (talk) 10:26, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:47, 1 March 2012 (UTC)
Image tagging for File:The Almighty Johnsons season 2.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:The Almighty Johnsons season 2.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. Orphaned non-free media (File:The Cliks - Complicated.jpg)
editThanks for uploading File:The Cliks - Complicated.jpg.
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:38, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited The Naked and Famous discography, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Austere (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). The article Flyleaf street team samplers has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Seems to fail WP:GNG and WP:NALNUMS
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Walter Görlitz (talk) 01:55, 8 February 2014 (UTC)

Edit-warring
editUsing your registered account instead of your IP does not excuse you from edit-warring at NCIS: Los Angeles (season 6). If anything, it's using sock-puppetry to edit war and that alone can justify a block. As explained on your IP's talk page,[2] the convention in TV articles is to use the title as broadcast, or as shown in reliable sources. You've been asked more than once to discuss this on either the article's talk page, or at WT:TV if you disagree.[3][4] Remember, MOS:CT is a guideline, and it's not mandatory to follow guidelines. --AussieLegend (✉) 11:03, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Template:The Living End songs
editA tag has been placed on Template:The Living End songs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page's talk page, where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. The file File:Westside Soundtrack.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in Westside (New Zealand TV series)#Music. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article, and the use of soundtrack album cover art in articles about films or TV programs is generally not allowed for this reason as explained in WP:FILMSCORE and MOS:TVPRODUCTION.
