Names
editThe point you made w.r.t. Bismarck Sea has been shifted to a note and made more neutral. You can do more research as to when various languages changed the name if you wish to improve the note. I have a CoI as relatives Polish so might not have made changes neutral enough to please some. ChaseKiwi (talk) 17:11, 30 June 2024 (UTC)

editHello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Drmies (talk) 23:20, 13 July 2024 (UTC)

UPA article
editWould you be able to look at one issue in the UPA article, I wrote about this on the talk page there, but no long-term editor removed it, and since you edited the Wołyń Massacre article you are probably familiar with the topic. There is a section called Commemoration in Ukraine and in it there is a picture of Ukrainian minority in Przemyśl with UPA flags. This should be removed because Przemyśl is not in Ukraine. I don't understand why no one responded and fixed it because this is really obvious inacuracy. 94.172.109.57 (talk) 10:10, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
Also, I just noticed that on Massacres of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia someone changed the intro to the article, which contains made up terms: "The Massacres of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia (Polish: rzeź wołyńska), also known as the Volhynian tragedy (Ukrainian: Воли́нська траге́дія, romanized: Volynsʹka trahediya), the Volhynian–Galician slaughter (Polish: rzeź wołyńsko-galicyjska)". In Polish the name is "Volhynian slaughter" not "Volhynian–Galician slaughter". Also, this should be moved up, not sure why you have "(Polish: rzeź wołyńska)" right after Massacres of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia with out what happened to lit. 'Volhynian slaughter' in bold letters. --94.172.109.57 (talk) 13:44, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, yeah, I agree that the name should be "Volhynian massacre" not "Massacres of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia". Also, Volhynian–Galician massacre is also used in Polish, it's just less popular (but is for example used by IPN and some historians), and in English, term "rzeź" is translated to "massacre" and not to more direct "slaughter". And going back to the first message. I think you are right that a picture from Ukraine would be more appropriate. I guess the picture of Przemysl was simply used becouse it shows the point author tried to make (shows Ukrainian demonstrators celebrating UPA). And, I think Przemysl had this kind of celebrations is becouse while it's in Poland, it is right on Ukrainian border, and has quite sizable Ukrainian minority. And, also, I should point out that I'm probably not the best person to ask, as I'm not really an expert on Volhynian massacre or WW2 history in general. I only have passing knowledge of it. Artemis Andromeda (talk) 13:58, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- Many thanks for looking into the above listed issues, as for the UPA article, I'm a bit concerned that there are some undertones to that image from Przemyśl, as some far-right Ukrainian nationalist groups claim that Przemyśl should be part of Ukraine, that is why I think this image should be taken out. The section only talks about "Commemoration in Ukraine" and the actual text only covers that aspect, and not in other places where Ukrainians are found like Poland, Canada or even the US. I would call the inclusion of that image rather controversial. --94.172.109.57 (talk) 14:03, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- Just to close my comment, I think Wikipedia should avoid such inaccuracies, at the most basic level the image is not directly referenced in the text and is out of place, that's all. So, this is just a editorial fix. --94.172.109.57 (talk) 14:28, 9 November 2024 (UTC)

Apollo Bas(s)in
editHi Artemis Andromeda. I removed the name "Apollo Bassin" from the link to Bassin d'Apollon at Amphitrite Fountain because it is not correct, as far as I can tell. The direct English translation would be Apollo Basin, but a better translation would be Apollo Fountain -- either of those would be better than the current one. GanzKnusper (talk) 00:20, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- I sound bossy here, that wasn't my intention! Bassin is also fine. GanzKnusper (talk) 00:23, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- @GanzKnusper Nah, it's fine. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I just wanted to use English name instead of French one, since in my opinion it's wierd that some sculptures on the Wiki (like those in Poland) get their names translated, but those in France, don't. I belive it's arbitrary, and wanted to keep consistent with using English names within the article. Sincerely, Artemis Andromeda (talk) 00:25, 17 December 2024 (UTC)

editCan you please explain your edits to Template:Gmina Supraśl, Grabówka, Białystok County, Henrykowo, Podlaskie Voivodeship, Sobolewo, Białystok County, Sowlany and Zaścianki, Podlaskie Voivodeship? - OK, thanks. That should have been mentioned in your edit summaries. Kiwipete (talk) 01:27, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
Recent edit reversion
editYour additions in this edit here, have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.)
To see the possible source of the copyrighted text, look in the edit summary which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. There should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.
While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation, set off using the blockquote template. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing.
I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. ~~~~ S Philbrick(Talk) 21:59, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Sphilbrick I was clearly placing text from the source so I could later use information from it in the article. And it was done in a draft... Artemis Andromeda (talk) 22:07, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Sphilbrick please revert this... I spent lot's of time looking for sources and working on this article, and you jsut deleted it with your faulty bot, destroying all my hard work. Artemis Andromeda (talk) 22:10, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- Not to mention that you not only deleted "copyrighted material" (a quote form a newspaper), but also, everything else I wrote in the draft.Artemis Andromeda (talk) 22:13, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Sphilbrick if you canon revert it, at least give me the text you deleted and blocked from undoing, so I can rewritte and republish it Artemis Andromeda (talk) 22:22, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- I responded on my talk page. S Philbrick(Talk) 00:54, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- To make it easier I'll copy my response here as well:
- I'm puzzled that you say it was "just a quote from a newspaper". That's exactly what is meant by violation of copyright rules. It is permitted to use short quotes if enclosed in quotation marks or set off as a block quote and if they are properly sourced neither of which apply here.
- You seem to be under the impression that it's okay to have copyrighted material in a draft. It is not. It's never a good practice to start with copyrighted material and massage it but if you must, do it in an off-line editor.
- My reversion may have picked up otherwise acceptable edits because it's standard practice to revert all consecutive edits by the same editor. I can send you the material but you need to turn on your email option in your preferences so that I can send it to you via email. Alternatively, and more easily for you, I turned off the code which hides the edits so you can recover the edits yourself. Let me know when you are done so I can turn back on the revision deletion code. S Philbrick(Talk) 00:56, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- ok, done, you can close it Artemis Andromeda (talk) 04:48, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- I responded on my talk page. S Philbrick(Talk) 00:54, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
