Use of IMDb and MySpace as reliable sources
editI don't think it's acceptable to use this IMDb page or this IMDb page or this MySpace account as sources for personal information about Tilford per WP:BLPSOURCES, WP:BLPSPS, WP:UGC, WP:BLPSELFPUB, WP:PSTS and WP:SPS.
Regarding IMDb, WP:UGC says that IMDb pages can sometimes be used for certain things if they are "labeled as originating from credentialed members of the sites' editorial staff, rather than users."; however, there is no such label given on Tilford's bio page. WP:UGC also says that "Self-published information should never be used as a source about a living person, even if the author is a well-known professional researcher or writer".
Regarding MySpace, WP:BLPSPS says "Never use self-published sources – including but not limited to books, zines, websites, blogs, and tweets – as sources of material about a living person, unless written or published by the subject (see below)", with the "see below" being WP:BLPSELFPUB. WP:BLPSELFPUB says "Such material may be used as a source only if" among other things "it is not unduly self-serving" and "the article is not based primarily on such sources". I don't feel the MySpace account satisfies these two conditions.
So, I suggest removing the IMDb and My Space citations and replacing them with {{citation needed}} templates until more reliable third-party sources can be found. Please discuss if you feel differently. Thanks in advance. - Marchjuly (talk) 08:26, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
