Adding Operations and Services Section

edit

COI Disclosure: I work for Manulife in a communications role, and am supporting the work of KABannister who has been working with the Wikipedia community on a regular basis to update this article. At this time, I would like to introduce some content that will help provide a more complete view of Manulife as a company, specifically, with respect to Manulife’s Global Services and Products as per the earlier suggestion by Kingofaces43 (talk) 23:51, 9 June 2015 (UTC). I would like to engage the community's opinion on the best format to include details on Manulife's Geographic products and services including the region, date of inception and products/services. I think the information lends itself to a table but please let me know if anyone advises differently on the format. The reason for including a table of operations and services is to provide readers with an accurate and balanced understanding of the services and products available, which vary in each region. This is important because of the company’s partnerships with international companies and a significant amount of work being performed internationally - Asia represents 30% of the company’s earnings; USA represents 42% and Canada represents 28%. Please let me know your thoughts. Below are the proposed changes in table format – I would appreciate the community’s feedback on these, and if you have any questions I am more than happy to discuss with you either here or via my Talk page. Many thanks for your time reviewing this request. AlyssaRCharles (talk) 13:59, 7 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

I don't think this table belongs, per WP:NOTDIR: "listings of ... offices". It's also likely to quickly become outdated. Kendall-K1 (talk) 15:35, 7 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks so much for your quick response and advice User:Kendall-K1 Would you recommend following the same format as the Operations section of Allianz Page? As drafted below, to follow best practice I've divided operational information into each major region that Manulife operates (rather than a list of all offices that may become outdated). I have also provided a map of countries in which Manulife operates to provide further context. Let me know your thoughts. Many thanks AlyssaRCharles (talk) 13:39, 9 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

I don't think this list belongs in any form. Parts of it might be suitable for the history. Certainly any list of what products are offered by which offices is inappropriate. @Kingofaces43: for a second opinion. Kendall-K1 (talk) 13:55, 9 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your help User:Kendall-K1 . I will revise the content that may be suitable for the history section as per your recommendation and provide for your review. Many thanks 167.92.67.10 (talk) 19:26, 14 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks again for providing feedback. After revising your comments I’ve made some updates to the information in the Operations section. Please let me know what you think about adding the Operations information in the format drafted below. AlyssaRCharles (talk) 18:08, 24 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sponsorship section

edit

What is the point of the Sponsorship section? Shouldn't this just be removed? Kendall-K1 (talk) 18:03, 6 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Kendall - I've never used the talk before so sorry for just 'undoing'... The sponsorship and awards sections are common in the banking industry and show where the company has ties. Please refer to other American and Canadian banking institutions wiki's. (Fastboy18 (talk) 14:32, 13 January 2017 (UTC))Reply

Following text copied from User talk:Fastboy18:
"All banks have sponsorship and awards sections" is not a reason to include these sections. See WP:OTHERCONTENT. Unfortunately these sorts of promotional sections pop up faster than they can be deleted. Something like a Nobel Prize is obviously worthy of inclusion. Most awards and sponsorships are not. A good test to apply (and I think this is actual policy but I couldn't quote it to you right now) is whether the award has been covered in an independent, reliable source (see WP:RS). If the only source you can cite is a press release from the company or the awards organization, then the award is not notable enough to include on Wikipedia. Big gap at the end of 'Controversies' tab

edit

There is a big unnecessary gap at the end of the 'Controversies' tab that needs removing as it looks strange with the big gap. Xboxsponge15 (talk) 21:29, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
