The result of the move request was: Withdrawn. (non-admin closure) George Ho (talk) 06:49, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
Ivan Stewart → Ivan "Ironman" Stewart – Regardless of normal discouragements (id est WP:TITLEFORMAT), Baja Times and Design & Trend use the full alternative name. The Toyota Press Release via Autoblog uses the current name, but I found just a recent one. I think adding "Ironman" is more encyclopedic and educational. --Relisted. - Oppose. No reason to break with our usual procedures here. Any number of people could have nicknames inserted in their names. We just don't do it. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:38, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- Comment Why don't we do it? In this case my jury is out and yet I strongly sympathise with the nom. A video's search may be telling on popular naming:
- "Ivan Ironman Stewart" ("Mickey Thompson" OR "Cal Wells" OR "ProTruck Racing") gets "About 1,160 results" while
- "Ivan Stewart" ("Mickey Thompson" OR "Cal Wells" OR "ProTruck Racing") gets "About 559 results".
- Some other categories of search such as books give results marginally the other way but I would not be surprised if the Ironman references tended to be more prominent than non Ironman name references. GregKaye 16:13, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose Same as Necrothesp. Jrcrin001 (talk) 01:24, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose. I see no reason for an exception to the standard formatting. Rreagan007 (talk) 01:10, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose I am very familiar with off-road racing (as a long-term fan) and with Stewart's career. We don't use nicknames in the title even though I know that his nickname is prevalent. Walker Evans (racing driver) isn't Walker "The Legend" Evans, etc. Wikipedia is a formal encyclopedia. Nicknames, however prevalent, don't belong in article titles - except if the nickname is the ONLY way to refer to the subject (Scooter Gennett). Royalbroil 13:44, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
