First sentence

I do not usually think of glycolipids as normally being used as an energy source by cells. What do others think? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.232.173.26 (talk) 12:31, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Unidentified word?

edit

I think "Greatocerbicide" (under "Types of glycolipids") is a misspelling, and I can't figure out what the actual word might be. --lifeform (talk) 07:32, 5 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Additional Information

edit

Hi, I would like to make some adjustments to the format of this article and expand on the topics presented. I will make only small additions to the introduction based on the information added to the body. I believe a segment describing the structure of glycolipids and discussing the formation and significance in function would be beneficial for understanding them further. This segment may also incorporate the various types of glycolipids (glyceroglycolipids and glycosphingolipids) and how they differ in structure. The metabolism section can have additional information on the process of formation and breakdown of the molecules and describe discrepancies among the different types. Also, describe impact from these processes. I also would like to add a cell to cell interaction section about the role of glycolipids as signaling molecules on the surface of cell membranes. This would include some critical examples such as blood types and also discuss how structure enables glycolipids to accomplish this. Finally I wish to provide a short sentence or two about the different types of glycolipids under the last section so that users do not have to visit another page to get quick information. I may adjust my plan throughout my time working on this page. If anyone does not agree with this, please reply so we can optimize this page. Thank you.--Wpcrosson (talk) 20:01, 3 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
