Talk:Funerary complex of Sultan Qaytbay

Note on page move to "Funerary complex of Sultan Qaytbay"

edit

I don't think this requires a discussion but I'm explaining the reasons here for reference: I initially named this page "Complex of Sultan al-Ashraf Qaytbay" as per Williams 2008 (cited on page, same as 2018 edition), but "Funerary complex of Sultan Qaytbay" is actually used in more sources: e.g. Behrens-Abouseif 2007 (cited on page) and Bernard O'Kane's (2016) "Mosques of Egypt". Another general and reliable source, "The Art and Architecture of Islam 1250-1800" by Sheila Blair and Jonathan Bloom (1995), also uses the term "funerary complex" for this building. It's also a little more concise in terms of the founder's name, as "al-Ashraf" isn't necessary here and is commonly left out, and an alternative like Madrasa-Mosque-Mausoleum etc would be too cumbersome. On a lesser point, it's also a little more precise, technically, as Qaytbay has built multiple complexes in many places but he has only one "funerary" complex or mausoleum.
