Fair use rationale for Image:Faith music video.jpg

edit

Image:Faith music video.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merger Discussion

edit

As the article has been tagged as suggested for a merge, I may as well go ahead and start the discussion with Strongly Oppose. While the basic song is the same, it was recorded in two completely different styles by two very divergent artists, with nearly a decade between them.TheBigFish (talk) 06:29, 25 November 2008 (UTC) Reply

Support. The convention seems to be putting cover versions on the same page as the original with the original first, no matter how different the versions are, how long a gap there is between them, or how notable the cover version is. Some examples:
In each of these cases, not only is the cover version radically different from the original, but the cover version is a notable milestone for the artist doing the cover. I don't see why this article is any different. Thonan (talk) 07:27, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
In light of this, I bow to convention, and will Support the merge.TheBigFish (talk) 03:29, 8 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

History - Second paragraph re analysis

edit

I realize that, although the official policy of Wikipedia is everything referenced from reliable sources, a 'de facto' policy for many popular culture articles is to allow some unreferenced material unless challenged. Well, the second paragraph of the History section urks me: it could very well be true (that Michael meant for it to be a continuation and some other details) but there is no references and I don't think it reflects a neutral voice. Actually, I think it comes off as original research (some just wanting to publish their own analysis of the song). I am debating cutting it, but I thought I would just state it and give someone the opportunity to find a reference first - where I have failed. --Blondtraillite (talk) 01:25, 10 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Limp Bizkit

edit

Three paragraphs and an infobox about Limp Bizkit's non-notable version of this song is way WP:UNDUE. There used to be an "other covers" section, but was removed (appropriately) here by User:Muhandes. I'd suggest trimming the Limp Bizkit cover to a sentence or two, under the revised heading "other covers". This would encourage other editors to expand this section (with references). If the Limp Bizkit version was so popular, then User:TheVoiceGamePlay is welcome to write an article about it. Magnolia677 (talk) 10:02, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
