Central University of Andhra Pradesh
editA Wikipedia Page Should be created for newly formed Central University of Andhra Pradesh. Website link [1] CENTRAL UNIVERSITY OF ANDHRA PRADESH AMENDMENT BILL Link [2] --Kulbhushan Jhadav (talk) 03:59, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Kulbhushan Jhadav: This will need to wait a bit. Per WP:LSC, a list should have an inclusion criteria which is
unambiguous, objective, and supported by reliable sources.
The selection criteria used for this list is the UGC "Consolidated list of Central Universities" which was last published on 12.12.2018 and still does not include the Central University of Andhra Pradesh. Once it is added, we can add the university for the article. Preferably, the article would need to be written first. --Muhandes (talk) 11:46, 13 January 2019 (UTC)- @Muhandes: Sir, This one Updated Central University list of UGC, 1.11.2019 and Central University of Andhra Pradesh included in the list. Now it can be Added in article.--Kulbhushan Jhadav (talk)
- @Kulbhushan Jhadav: Indeed. However, I believe since the actual act was passed in 2019, the official establishment year is 2019. Also, "#" sign you added was incorrect and I correct it. --Muhandes (talk) 16:36, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Muhandes: I don't think so. All The '#' Central universities Empowered by single (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2019.--Kulbhushan Jhadav (talk)
- @Kulbhushan Jhadav: I don't think this is the correct order of things. As you can see in this version, the "#" sign actually meant "Established by the Central Universities Act, 2009" which is incorrect for CUAP. The 2009 act established 12 universities (see "The First Schedule" on the 2009 act). The Amendment act of 2019 extends the number to 16 (again see "The First Schedule"). It adds CUAP, Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh, Mahatma Gandhi Central University and the Central University of Kashmir, although the last two were already established through other acts I believe and I will need to look at them tomorrow. The 2019 act adds at most four central universities, and I believe in fact only two: CUAP and CTUAP. It does not empower all 16. --Muhandes (talk) 20:24, 21 November 2019 (UTC)

RfC for Second university image
editShould this article include an image of Aligarh Muslim University with the caption second central university
? -- User4edits (T) 11:35, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
Responses
editVarious editors (some possible COI) are repeatedly putting Aligarh Muslim University's photo with caption "second central university", this is because an image of the first central university (BHU) is placed at the top. My point was that doing so will set a bad precedent for third, fourth, and so on... universities, and therefore, it should not be there. Since different editors and IPs are coming to put it back up repeatedly, I am raising this RfC. Thanks, Please feel free to ping/mention -- User4edits (T) 11:35, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

- I don't think we need more than one image. Muhandes (talk) 08:52, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
- (Summoned by bot) I also don't think it's necessary to have more than one image at the top. Per MOS:LEADELEMENTS, lead images should be relevant and representative. The preexisting image already does this. Coming from a person who is not familiar with this topic, the added image of Aligarh Muslim University's entrance gate is not very different from the preexisting lead image of BHU's entrance gate. Therefore, from a "relevance" and "representation" standpoint, the new image is largely duplicative of the existing one and doesn't add anything to the lead.
