9. Legal
editA question. Section 9. of this article "Legal" is wholly concerned with the litigious aftermath of Bayer's acquisition of Monsanto. Bayer has certainly had a plethora of legal issues in the past which are not recounted here. Would the existing "Legal" content be clearer if it were moved to 4.5 "Acquisition of Monsanto?" Cleveland Todd (talk) 15:58, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
- That sounds reasonable it was only split out yesterday. There should probably be only brief mention of it here anyway per WP:DUE, with more information in Roundup (herbicide) and Monsanto legal cases. SmartSE (talk) 16:05, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
- The legal section is all about the legal issues with Bayer ~ the Acquisition sections is about Acquisitions ~ the reader has to know of a particular case in order to read about it in the Acquisitions section, that is why I started the legal section ~ so if the reader just wants to know the "legals" ~ they can read just that section instead of reading the whole page Mitchellhobbs (talk) 16:07, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
- what are the four ref for ~ two have errors on them and the other two do not discuss anything legal with Bayer Mitchellhobbs (talk) 16:29, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
No idea what the four citations are, what they refer to, or where they come from. It's a Wikipedia mystery.
Mitchell hobbs - the logic works for me, but I'd suggest renaming the section "Litigation" rather than "Legal." "Legal" is too broad and covers too much ground. I'm certain Bayer has many notable litigation issues. E.g., they settled a case along with Johnson & Johnson on Xarelto for almost $1 billion - $775 million in March 2019.Cleveland Todd (talk) 13:35, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
- Cleveland Todd ~ the only reason I put legal is most of the pages I've seen here on wiki calls that section Legal ~ I do see your point, but I'm just trying to keep it similar to other pages ~ Mitchellhobbs (talk) 13:48, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
- Cleveland Todd, thanks do you want to add it, if not let me know and I will NY Times Mitchellhobbs (talk) 14:15, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
Mitchellhobbs, I'll be happy to do it. Cleveland Todd (talk) 14:50, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
Ukraine activities?
editIn light of the current situation in Ukraine it needs to be clarified what activities, if any, Bayer took over when purchasing monsanto. Monsanto had once bought land in Ukraine (as part of an aid package I believe). They also established labs but of course these are usually shrouded in secrecy.
What needs to be clarified now is: Where were these labs, and which ones are still active? What exactly did they research? The land which monsanto bought, is that now owned by Bayer or was it separated out so it is still owned by an American company? Today we read that the US representative in the UN says there was no financing or support by America for labs in Ukraine, but these things go through companies in America.
She did not say that there were no official or private enterprise connections to labs in Ukraine. 2001:8003:A070:7F00:E93C:B981:47CD:E24D (talk) 23:28, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
