IP 138.124.130.130 seems to exist only to keep reinstating link spam in this article. I only noticed this after I removed the link spam and then saw that I was not the first to remove it. One of the admins should perhaps block this IP, which has no other useful edits. --Craig (t|c) 00:59, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Merge 3CX Phone System into this article

edit

I propose we merge the 3CX Phone System into this article. There was an AFD in 2011 with a Keep result, but I struggle to establish how both the 3CX Phone System and 3CX need independent articles. Few of the sources cited in this page actually mention 3CX as a company - they mainly reference it's flagship phone system product. No sources are cited prior to 2017, when the phone system received a major feature update.

As it stands, 3CX is the 3CX Phone System and the 3CX Phone System is 3CX.

Until such a time that 3CX produce enough notable products that warrant their own articles, it is WP:REDUNDANT to keep these separate. OXYLYPSE (talk) 07:50, 12 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Guys, this is nonsensical. 2A0C:B381:5FA:2400:4C11:D4D5:E541:7982 (talk) 08:46, 12 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
This is very important to me.
Please update, soonest. 2A0C:B381:5FA:2400:1139:FDAB:278A:6308 (talk) 16:09, 12 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hey there! Thanks for your comment on my talk page, let's continue here. Please do feel free to share your thoughts and reasoning why you believe these pages should be separate.

3CX is world leading and the monopoly of Wikipedia should not have the ability to tarnish the reputation of such a renowned global entity - to reduce exposure is to do exactly this.
Other organisations have multiple Wikipedia pages - the company itself and then each notable product they produce. 2A0C:B381:5FA:2400:1139:FDAB:278A:6308 (talk) 17:13, 12 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
As far as I am aware, 3CX only produces one product; the phone system is 3CX and is the only notable thing about the company. Happy to be corrected if I am wrong.
The purpose of Wikipedia is to be an encyclopedia, not a tool for corporate "exposure". Based on the way you're writing this, I would also suggest you disclose your Conflict of interest. OXYLYPSE (talk) 17:29, 12 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Go ahead and merge them. We base our content decisions on our policies and guidelines, and absolutely not on the whims of someone with a conflict of interest who wants to use Wikipedia as a publicity platform. ~Anachronist (talk) 21:20, 12 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Then your policies are wrong.
You’re clearly against 3CX as a product and company. 3CX is world leading in the VoIP space and the company has done more for the telephony industry than you can imagine, clearly; if it were not for 3CX, other systems would not have had to work themselves so hard to maintain a (sub-standard) product. 2A0C:B381:5FA:2400:CD23:DB5F:E997:663E (talk) 13:43, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have no opinion about 3CX. In fact I never heard of 3CX until a few days ago.
Wikipedia doesn't care one bit about what a company or its representatives have to say about itself. All that matters is what independent sources say about it. Therefore, your own assertions about it are not to be considered. We are not "against" 3CX, we are against people with a conflict of interest trying to exert editorial control over content. That isn't going to happen.
If you have a problem with a policy or guideline, in this case Wikipedia:Content forks#Pages of the same type on the same subject, then the place to get consensus for changing it is on the guideline's talk page, not here. ~Anachronist (talk) 16:07, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Merged

The company and phone system are separate

edit

This is getting tiring and my time should not be spent telling you how to run Wikipedia.

The article makes no sense - it doesn’t differentiate between the phone system and company. If you’re going to keep them separate, at least don’t ruin the reputation of the company by saying the product and company are the same thing! 2A0C:B381:5FA:2400:9D23:956D:DA06:1757 (talk) 19:26, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

You’re quick to ruin a company’s reputation, but slow to respond to an error on said company.
Clear bias. 2A0C:B381:5FA:2400:D17B:365:B1FA:C4F0 (talk) 17:54, 14 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Apologies for the delay, I have a day job.
My intention was to cleanup the articles and deduplicate them - they both basically said the same thing. If the company has done many other notable things, they weren't in the article in the first place. If you'd like the article to mention these notable things, or if you have any other specific constructive feedback, then please do share this. But please give it a rest with the "reputation" nonsense; it's an encyclopedia, not an advertising billboard. -OXYLYPSE (talk) 09:14, 17 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

It's not clear what you are seeking that requires use of the admin tools. Admins have no special authority, any editor may help you with this. You are more likely to draw attention to your proposed edit if you mark it as a formal edit request(click for instructions). For the future, you can use the edit request wizard to make edit requests that will be more likely to be seen by others.
No one is trying to "ruin the reputation of the company", unless you have actual evidence of that being someone's intention. Please assume good faith. We want to get things right, but this is a volunteer project where people do what they can when they can. Patience is required. 331dot (talk) 08:32, 17 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
If you are associated with this company, that must be disclosed, see WP:COI and WP:PAID(employment or other compensated editing is required by the Terms of Use to be disclosed). It's easier to disclose with an account, but even if you choose not to create an account, you must disclose. 331dot (talk) 08:35, 17 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'd say the IP address is doing a pretty good job ruining the company's reputation already, with these tiresome repeated complaints that are grounded in the company's publicity goals than in Wikipedia policies and guidelines. ~Anachronist (talk) 03:07, 19 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
