this article seems to be ignoring its own source material

The very first listed source [1] says quite clearly that although the locals did believe in this creature, and did leave the village, the two things are unrelated. It goes on to say that the show was not even filmed in Portlock but rather just off the road system, which does not even extend to Seldovia, let alone Port Chatham. 1. The show was filmed in Portlock with permission from the village of Nanwalek (English Bay Corporation), who still own the abandoned town.
2. Four different cast members are descendants of the people who fled Portlock. One of them is a village elder. All say unequivocally that their ancestors fled as a direct result of mysterious deaths their people feared were caused by Nantinaq. 47.155.233.185 (talk) 05:13, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
That's not what the source material cited in this article says, that's the problem. Beeblebrox (talk) 17:51, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Reality

Is this real 81.107.183.130 (talk) 10:10, 21 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Depends on who you ask. Some sources state the townspeople fled because of a killer Bigfoot, others that it was a matter of economic change, with roads linking nearby towns and bypassing Portlock, which was primarily reached by boat, causing the locals to move to the more profitable settlements nearby.
