About Data for Impact
LinkedIn data for economic development
Our Data for Impact program aims to empower government and multilateral partners with the economic data they need to make informed decisions and invest in programs that create economic opportunity for the global workforce. We partner with multilateral organizations, government institutions, and select public-benefit entities to share these data and insights at no cost to them. See our full list of partners and learn more about how we support their work below.
Our data
Powered by LinkedIn’s Economic Graph and trusted by public partners
The indicators we make available to partners for research and development purposes comes from LinkedIn’s Economic Graph — a real-time, granular representation of the global economy composed of the activity of more than 1 billion professionals. Because protecting our members’ privacy is our first priority, our data menu contains only anonymized, aggregated datasets that meet strict data quality thresholds, and have been validated by public partners. See indicator methodologies here.
While LinkedIn’s Economic Graph is expansive and growing, we know it is not yet representative of the full global workforce. Therefore, we encourage partners to use our data to supplement, never replace, existing data sources. Moreover, we work with government and multilateral partners to test and validate our data (see examples from the World Bank, the European Central Bank, and German Statistical Authority Destatis).

Our impact
Public-private partnerships generating insights to power the world of work
Our privacy-preserving datasets have helped partners generate unique insights to advance inclusive, green, and digitally-enabled economic growth. These insights, in turn, have informed $2B+ in public investments, shaped senior policy dialogues, and produced dozens of partner-led research products.
In addition to sharing data, we seek to encourage improved sharing of privately-sourced data for public good. Our Engineering teams document and share their innovations that enable this work. We collaborate with the Industry Data for Society Partnership to support peers in improved data sharing programs. And organizations like the Future of Privacy Forum have documented our best-in-class efforts to ensure these efforts center and prioritize member privacy.
