Social Software, Collaboration, and Post-Mortem Technologies in the Brazilian cultural context

Published: 29 August 2024 Publication History

Abstract

Faced with the growing need to model aspects related to user's death in systems that require online collaboration, new demands stand out.
Scientists and society are challenged by technologies that (do not) deal with the death of users, thereby impacting on the lives of others.
This paper aims to problematize topics related to collaboration in death-related processes in the digital environment, which bring technical, ethical, cultural and legal challenges in the Brazilian cultural context. However, we believe the findings from our research can be adapted to other cultures and countries.
The topics related to social software and death include: digital legacy, volition, and the social web; digital memorials and cemeteries; digital immortality; games, legacy, and death and other topics.
