Versioning machine 5.0 and audio versioning

Published: 13 September 2016 Publication History

Abstract

The Versioning Machine (VM) is an open source framework for digital editing. It was developed for literary research and for the parallel study of multiple versions of a text encoded according to the guidelines of the Text Encoding Initiative (TEI) [4][6], an encoding standard for the representation of humanities data. The VM was developed as an interface for readers to study diplomatic transcriptions and images of a text and as a tool for temporal and spatial reconstruction of an author's work.[6] The recently released VM 5.0 adds support for the alignment of audio tracks and transcriptions.
