Home Security System Using Wireless Sensors Network

Published: 01 July 2022 Publication History

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a smart and robust home security system. This is for intrusion detection along with a proprietary Android application. Intruder-Spi makes use of relatively low cost but effective wireless sensors network that makes it an affordable security system to buy when compared to other expensive CCTV camera systems. This implements a home security automated intrusion detection system which alerts the host using ‘Twilio’ API. The detection system comprises of a laser tripwire. The android application has been developed using the Python programming language on the server side and Java is being used to develop the application on the client side. The system notifies the user about any possible theft or intrusion in one’s environment by clicking pictures and recording a video for a period using a proprietary Raspberry Pi camera and storing it into the MySQL database in the Raspberry Pi itself. Apache2 is the web-server being used on the Pi to serve client requests being made from the Android device which will eventually show the respective captured images and videos to the registered users who can then control the application remotely.
