Significant/radical cropping isn't a minor, please see COM:OVERWRITE.Bidgee (talk) 02:56, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
- I did not see an issue, as it was not used elsewhere, and was not cropping any other information but green grass away. I see the issue that it was not re-cropped to create a new image as it now looks pretty crapppy in the infobox, but I'll do that now.Fleets (talk) 08:26, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
Please consider adding iw links here on Commons
[edit]Dear Fleets,
Thanks for creating quite some new categories here on Commons as you did recently for Category:Addin Fonua-Blake. It would be great if you could as well add the interwiki-link to the corresponding page on en-wikipedia by clicking here on commons in the sidebar menu under 'In Wikipedia' on 'Add links' and then putting in the appearing pop-up box the link to the corresponding article on en-wikipedia. This will add a link to commons to all language versions of the corresponding article on en-wikipedia. Moreover this will avoid the corresponding article to be included in the maintenance category en:Category:Commons category template with no category set.
Many thanks if you could consider to do so, indeed this would reduce my efforts on adding these iw links later through patrolling the pages listed on the pre-mentioned category on en-wikipedia. I would like to thank you for all the great work you are realizing on en-wikipedia and here on commons.
If you have any further questions on this do not hesitate to contact me. Best regards and already now my very best wishes for you for the New Year. Robby (talk) 08:15, 31 December 2017 (UTC)

Daniel Crowley
[edit]Hi. I saw you reverted my edit on Daniel Crowley image. I think the category should be deleted because it's redundant -- Daniel Crowley category is already in Players of Arsenal FC category so no need for that photo to be sitting in Arsenal FC. Check out: COM:OVERCAT. Thanks — Dudek1337 (talk) 12:40, 5 August 2018 (UTC)

Cropping
[edit]Hey, I don't know you, I have nothing personal against you, I'm not a rugby league expert but I have to ask, why do you crop every picture so narrowly, so closely to one's skull? You leave, what, three, four pixels around people's head/hand/leg. I thought it is a well-known fact that a properly cropped picture should leave some space between pictured person and the edge of a photo (unless you're trying to make some kind of an artistic photo, what's not the case here). Take a look how are made official photos of politicians for example. And - judging by the case of this revert of yours - I'll add one more thing: limbs are not always important in profile pictures. Aʀvєδuι + 23:02, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
- No worries, thought it best to avoid having other subjects in the background, and I would say that whilst limbs may not be pertinent for a politicians infobox, they would be infinitely more important to a rugby league footballer.Fleets (talk) 19:49, 9 November 2018 (UTC)
- Well, yes and no in the same time, to be honest. I agree that if you get a picture of a player in action, in some kind of a characteristic pose then of course it is good to have it all. But when a player is standing still, then cropping into some kind of a profile pic, infobox suited may be a better idea. If you cropp it closely to the silhouette, it quite often creates pictures relativly narrow and high (considering their ratio) that don't look good in articles. And especially in infoboxes, when fixed width result in being counterproductive (infoboxes' aim is to instantly give the readers the most importantant information, and if a photo is as narrow in ratio as in said McGillvary's case, they may have to scroll down to get them). Therefore in my opininon leaving a wee bit more of a background may be recomended or in some cases even required. And getting back to the argument about leaving virtually no space between pictured person and an edge of a photo - for me this exemplary picture looks much better uncropped [1] than cropped to the skull [2]. And frankly speaking I would probably say the same thing about a major part of rugby league pictures here at Commons, as most of them passed through your hands. (Should you reply, please let me know anywhere on 'my talk page, as last time I didn't know untill I checked your page myself.) Aʀvєδuι + 22:40, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Billy Slater Maroons.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Category:Matt_King has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

- @Jcb: three separate warnings above about uploading non-commercial images from Flickr. This was the fourth offense. If anything I should have blocked for longer. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 02:05, 18 August 2019 (UTC)
- I had hoped for a reduction, but I will take the above sentence into consideration. That can obviously be addressed by myself so not to bring a fifth offence to the list. Would it be prudent to work something stronger into the quick upload tool, as the wording would indicate it is free to use, but there is a not a robust enough routing to protect the user from themselves, were they to not be entirely o fay with the terms, and how they are interpreted here. Happy to take it on the chin, and also to learn from it too.Fleets (talk) 09:16, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

File:Mikewardscore.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Flickr2Commons
[edit]I have just come across a few images you have recently uploaded from Flickr. I would appreciate it if in the future, you used the Flickr2Commons tool. This tool allows images to be moved to Commons from Flickr without having to download the images to your own computer. It also brings in the largest resolution of the image, as well making sure to list the correct license and url, making it easy for the automated Flickr Review system. Also, it is fairly easy to categorize images with this tool. To use it, you just need to go to the url and authorize it (where it says "authorise first"). A1Cafel (talk) 14:19, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
