user pages

[edit]

Hi. Not a great idea for a new user to go and change a page in someone's user namespace. Better to talk to the user if there is a real issue.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:47, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Umm, seems numbers of your edits are uninformed about categories. Please head over to Com:Village pump and seek some guidance on editing. Thanks.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:53, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Please read policy and ensure that your requests are within the scope of what we do and how we do things. We typically do not delete redirects where they serve a purpose.  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:52, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fairly clear here. Please stop nominating redirects for deletion. It doesn't matter that they are unused locally, they still work for anyone who links to Commons externally to Wikimedia. Move on, find something useful to do.  — billinghurst sDrewth 05:48, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As a courtesy to other editors, it is Commons:Signatures policy to sign your posts on talk pages, user talk pages, deletion requests, and noticeboards. To do so, simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments. Your user name or IP address (if you are not logged in) and the date will then automatically be added along with a timestamp when you save your comment. Signing your comments helps people to find out who said something and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). Thank you.

Stop requesting deletions of redirects

[edit]

Hi. Upfront and clear. You are to stop requesting speedy deletions of redirects. Your requests are out of scope according to the practices here. https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Flag_of_the_South_African_Police_(1981%E2%80%931994).svg&action=history  — billinghurst sDrewth 04:15, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Billinghurst: i believe File:Flag of the South African Police.svg should be moved back to its original title. Adinar0012 (talk) 04:42, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then follow the process to get a file moved. Telling me in a response on a user talk page is not one that will get a file moved.  — billinghurst sDrewth 05:15, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What is hard about working with the community?

[edit]

Hi. There are very clear guidelines about category renames at Com:Rename a category. How and why do you think that you just can ignore the years of consensus of category naming (Com:Category names) and change things just because you feel like it?

We work here together, and if you think that there is something that needs a change, check to understand what has been done. Follow the existing thinking and if you think that there is a need for something different, or that there is a problem, then talk to your community members and reach a consensus.

To also note that normal and inexperienced users moving categories is really not a good idea at the best of times. I encourage you to reread guidance. Talk to the community through places like Com:Village pump. Breaking things and not showing the ability to listen, to learn and to communicate are not encouraged traits.  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:31, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category discussion warning

Nazi symbols status has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Speedy deletion as duplicate

[edit]

Hello. I've declined several of your speedy deletion nominations. For example, File:Flag of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic.png isn't eligible for speedy deletion because both the colors aren't the same and the format isn't the same. In the future, please use regular DR for non-exact duplicates. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 12:13, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
