[edit]Copyright status: File:3rd part libraries.png
This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:3rd part libraries.png. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

[edit]Hi A09090091. I noticed that you've made a malformed deletion request. Here, {{Delete}} is not for speedy deletion, please see COM:DP. When you want to delete a page by manually using the {{Delete}} template, you must follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion (or Commons:Deletion requests/Listing a request manually policy), otherwise you will create a lot of work for other people. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 23:51, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

File tagging File:Model in black and white striped dress.jpeg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Model in black and white striped dress.jpeg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Model in black and white striped dress.jpeg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
And also:

File source is not properly indicated: File:Female erotic boxer.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Female erotic boxer.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (
[[:File:Female erotic boxer.jpg]] ).
If you created the content yourself, enter If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

- @Jeff G.: Please delete from precaution. All other pictures of Iris (name of pictured woman) were copyvios, this is probably too. A09090091 (talk) 14:31, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
File:Female erotic boxer.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

- @Maria133image: Hi! Sorry for writing in English as I cannot speak Spanish. - @Versionhiphop: Please follow the instructions at COM:VRT. For following I am asking especially because anyone could personificate. For example: I create account with name B. Johnson. Am I Boris Johnson, GB PM? No. For the second part I hope you know what publishing under CC-BY-SA license even means as the following licenses are not restricted to Wikipedia itself. Thanks, A09090091 (talk) 17:47, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
Yes I can certify that I am from the Version Hip-Hop Organization. And all the people on the pictures allowed us to use the picture for Internet use, even on Wikipedia. We know that the CC-BY-SA license means that the following licenses are note restricted to Wikipedia itself. Autopatrol given
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. 4nn1l2 (talk) 08:26, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
- @4nn1l2: Thanks for trusting me. I didn't "expect" this so early with only ~2500 contributions.--A09090091 (talk) 13:34, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
Notification about possible deletion
[edit]Hi,
I'm constructing a wiki page about flamenco artist Valeria Tejero Navas. I'm new in all what is related with wikipedia edition. Valeria is an international artist and has done shows all over the world.
While I'm finishing the main wiki page in my own space before make it public, at the same time I'm just trying to upload photos with Valeria's representations and participations in International Theater Festivals, to use them in Valeria's Wiki page. The most of the photos are our own work, and perhaps we can have a few of them that have been send us by the proper festivals.
My only objective is to let people of all over the world, and not only the spanish people, know about this great actress and flamenco dancer from Córdoba (Spain).
Best Regards, Rafael M. Jimenez Aguilar Puente Genil, Córdoba (Spain)
--RafaJimenezAguilar (talk) 19:23, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
- @RafaJimenezAguilar: As is said in DR (deletion request) reason (linked are COM:ALBUM and COM:BOOK), Commons does not accept any full-copyright materials. All listed files were either posters or tickets, which are all copyrighted. There was no direct corelation with your sandbox on eswiki.
- "The most of the photos are our own work, and perhaps we can have a few of them that have been send us by the proper festivals." Can you properly describe what does that mean? Owning a photo, file, book, does not automatically give you copyright and rights for distributing the objects. That also means you cannot upload images, that were sent to you/your organization. a) All sent filess need COM:OTRS ticket or otherwise they cannot stay here and b) Did you really take all of the photos?
- Hope you understand. With regards,
- PS: Releasing images under CC-BY-SA-4.0 and below does not mean "Wikipedia only", but can be use in public with source attribution.

- Per COM:Filename (it's currently under proposal, but it's origins are from 2009): Names should be descriptive, * chosen according to what the image displays or contents portray * accurate, especially where scientific names, proper nouns, dates, etc. are used. File was renamed under criterion 2 of COM:RENAME and per your comment I also suggested a new title with tracking number (or whatever that number is). Furthermore, by releasing under CC license you granted rights to remix and to copy, under which renaming falls into the first one. A09 (talk) 13:04, 30 October 2022 (UTC)

—Upwinxp (talk) 13:19, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
I restored your translations and made the image display. Glrx (talk) 17:38, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Glrx: Many thanks! So what went wrong? Was it SVG file formation because of čšž? A09 (talk) 21:24, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
- MediaWiki only looks at the first 250 kB of an SVG file to determine which languages are present. The JPEG image is > 250 kB, so MediaWiki never sees the actual translations. If MediaWiki does not see the language, then it will not show it (even though it exists in the file).
- To get around that limitation, the file has some invisible text before the JPEG image is displayed. You needed to add an sl translation for that invisible text -- that is all I did to make the image work.
- That is, go to
- and notice the "en (default)" on the left and the "sl" on the right (which is what I added).

Welcome, Dear Patroller!
[edit]
Hi A09,
You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.
As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.
We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.
If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons. —Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 01:25, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
Rollback right given
[edit]I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Commons:Rollback. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. —Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 01:25, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

abdulaziz al ghurair - davos image
[edit]Hi, we are humbly requesting for your understanding to remove this photo or replace this photo with another of abdulaziz al ghurair. Mr Abdulaziz Alghurair was invited to the Davos meet in 2009 as a key participant and engaged actively in the discussions and key outcomes. He is respected, admired and is highly revered in the Middle East.
The photos do not have Mr Abdulaziz Alghurair in the traditional thobe, ghutra and iqal – and this impacts his reputation in the region tremendously. World Economic Forum has accepted our request to remove the same photo on their site on Feb 15. We are sincerely requesting for the same help from you to have this photo remove or change it to another with the traditional garb. CyResponse (talk) 03:37, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
- I cannot delete it, I don't posses admin rights. An administrator wil close this deletion request, but file will likely stay: it's properly licensed, sourced etc., CC licenses are irrevocable and motiv itself is in scope, so deletion is unlikely to happen. If you have better files you are willing to release under free license, you are welcome to do so with Special:UploadWizard (and as you're an agency COM:VRT is probably needed from author of photo) and replace forementioned file. Regards, A09 (talk) 13:43, 24 February 2023 (UTC)

Welcome, Dear Filemover!
[edit]
Hi A09, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:
- Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
- Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
- Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

Question
[edit]Hello. Why did you decline this rename request? How is the copyright issue has anything to do with the misleading name (Criterion 3)? Thank you. Regards, Oleg (talk) 20:10, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Oleg Yunakov: Mentioned file had no source to properly prove CC license. Furthermore, renaming files with copyright problems (as missing esential informations to prove license) is forbidden per COM:FRNOT criteria #4. I suggest fixing copyright first. Sincerely A09 (talk) 22:43, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you, a valid point! I'll keep that in mind going forward. The source is known, but I assume the copyright is not NEXTA's, but of whoever made the footage and this information is currently AFAIK unknown, so the foto needs to be deleted. Thank you. Regards, Oleg (talk) 22:49, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Oleg Yunakov: Don't have Twitter so I haven't seen anything :( For VRT ticket you need permission from its author and not the publisher. I don't know if a Ukrainian soldier posses copyright or not if his work is part of workload for UKR army. Photo is going to be deleted soon, you may restore it per COM:UNDELETE. Sincerely, A09 (talk) 09:49, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, this I am aware of. The video is not mine and the image from it was not uploaded by me. I just saw that the file name created by the uploader is incorrect (as at the time of creation the identity of the person was unknown). The footage was allegedly made by the Russian army who killed the POW, so I doubt that they will agree to give copyright to record their crimes... I also doubt fair use will work here despite that the man in the picture is dead and it's impossible to create another image of him before his death. Thank you. Regards, Oleg (talk) 13:02, 19 March 2023 (UTC)

The source is known, but I assume the copyright is not NEXTA's, but of whoever made the footage and this information is currently AFAIK unknown, so the foto needs to be deleted. Thank you. Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2022 voting is open!
[edit]Read this message in your language
Dear Wikimedian,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 1 will end on UTC.
Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

- @Барабас: Same category doesn't mean pictures are from same set. As Commons are multilingual project we don't translate filenames. Please see COM:RENAME. A09 (talk) 15:18, 11 June 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. I don't understand why did you rewert my edit. I forgot to change the name of this file before upload it. There is a photo under the same name in georgian wikipedia. It must be changed.Gobrona (talk) 13:58, 11 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Gobrona: Missed that you were the uploader. Usually we don't translate filenames as Commons are multi-lingual project. Will revert and rename per COM:RENAME criteria #1. A09 (talk) 15:16, 11 June 2023 (UTC)

Seal of St. Louis County, Missouri
[edit]Rename:

Rkt2312 (talk) 21:27, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Rkt2312: I am currently away from my computer, could you please use {{Rename}}? Someone will fix it for you shortly. Thanks! A09 (talk) 21:29, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
- I already put it in the file. Rkt2312 (talk) 21:34, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
Hi, could you rename File:Air Force Ensign of India (2023).svg to File:Air Force Ensign of India.svg? I'm not able to reuse the rename template because File:Air Force Ensign of India.svg redirects to another file. Thank you. Colohisto (talk) 21:18, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
- I don’t think that would be beneficiall. Preservance of redirects is for backling of the outer web - I’m certainly not confident enough to overwrite an redirect and risk breaking links on foreign websites. I think these filenames are good enough for now. A09 (talk) 22:55, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hvala. — Yerpo Eh? 20:36, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
Broken links
[edit]Your move here seems to have left a lot of broken links, showing up at en:Category:Articles_with_missing_files. Aren't you supposed to fix all those when you move a file? Dicklyon (talk) 04:27, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Dicklyon: I don't know what went wrong as I've never encountered such problem before. I'd guess it's the program's technical dificulties as all work on replacing old filenames with new one is automatic. I'll seek help and fix it, A09 (talk) 10:17, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. It appears to be fixed now. Maybe it was just a transient. Dicklyon (talk) 18:58, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
Congratulations, dear license reviewer

Review
[edit]Can you review this image please?
Aurelio Sandoval (Mensajes aquí please) 19:48, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- Done But please don't post such requests everywhere as some editors may not appreciate. I'm fine with the latter. Best regards, A09 (talk) 19:51, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- Understood, thanks. Aurelio Sandoval (Mensajes aquí please) 19:57, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- So I can't request? Aurelio Sandoval (Mensajes aquí please) 20:08, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- You can and may, however some people might see this as a sort of canvassing/jumping the queue, so they might refuse taking any actions. However, I believe such editors are a small minority. Best regards, A09 (talk) 20:11, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- @A09
- It's okay, although I don't find the problem, several users ask license reviewers or administrators to review the images. Aurelio Sandoval (Mensajes aquí please) 21:56, 3 June 2024 (UTC)

- Gpkp, I believe you should upload videos with muted sound, I see no indicators music in these videos is under CC license. Regards, MZaplotnik(talk) 13:08, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
- @MZaplotnik: , all works of audio and video are author's own. --Gpkp (talk) 14:51, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Gpkp, @MZaplotnik: I have to a conclusion that you shouldn't upload these files. COM:FOP India does not apply to "any other work of artistic craftsmanship" which includes works of fashion and there is no indication of whether the fashion designers agreed to publish their designs under CC license (COM:DW). You can tag them yourself, if not, I'll do it. Best regards, A09 (talk) 11:33, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
