Hi!
My name is Søren Peo Pedersen, and I mainly contribute at the danish Wikipedia. I often create illustrations for articles, and I have just begun moving high-resolution copies of "my" illustrations onto Commons.
I mostly use the Persistence of Vision Raytracer (see http://www.povray.org), or "POV-Ray" in short, to create my illustrations: This program is freeware, and it accepts a sort of "image description" written in a C-like "language". I will strive to include the "code" for my images for the illustrations that I upload to Commons, so that others may modify them and/or re-render them in new sizes and resolutions to suit various purposes (e.g. very high resolution for printing).
Here is a list of what I've uploaded so far.
