Guidance re syntax 1 vs syntax 2
[edit]Hello all- Unless I'm missing something, there is no information or link provided on the template page to aid users in determining whether a given file has metadata on Wikidata. Does anyone know how to determine that? I think it would help to add guidance. Eric talk 15:51, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
- Eric I just noticed your question. If a file is connected to Wikidata than it always has a title bar with Wikidata logo, which you can click. --Jarekt (talk) 03:46, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info, Jarekt. It's been a while and I'd forgotten this post. Do you know if this is mentioned on the template page? Eric talk 21:37, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
- Eric, I added that to the template documentation. --Jarekt (talk) 02:48, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

[edit]The size of 3D model that is taken automatically to wikimedia from the 3D model property at wikidata is not reasonable and without controll.

- This remains a problem as to August 2023, any chance somebody familiar with the code could give a look? Pinging User:Zolo and User:Jarekt. Rama (talk) 11:37, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Rama and Yair-haklai: , this issue was reported 1.5 years ago at phabricator:T309867, and we are still waiting for the resolution. Please, write a comment at the phabricator:T309867 and maybe it will help. --Jarekt (talk) 20:16, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- Too bad! Maybe best approach as long as it persists would be dropping 3D model (P4896) or excluding it from the gallery and just add a link to those files? --Marsupium (talk) 19:59, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

Couple of errors with the template
[edit]- "Location" on Wikidata shows up under "Collection" on Commons
- Inscription is not rendered correctly on Commons
See File:Havenbeeld, Breda 3.png for an example of both. ReneeWrites (talk) 22:51, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- I agree that those both are bugs, thanks for pointing them out!
- I think the problem with the location needs a bit of work. The responsible code line is this one. It is connected to the issue raised at Module talk:Wikidata art#Collection, current location - Getty Center, J. Paul Getty Museum.
- Fixed on Template:Inscription/style (diff).

3d picture too big
[edit]Please could fix the size of the 3d object present in wikidata. Sample see "other version" section a 3d image here File:Laocoön and his sons group.jpg. Thanks Wilfredor (talk) 22:09, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
"mostly 3D artworks"
[edit]Because this template is mostly for 3D artworks, consider a different image at the top of the page, representing a 3D artwork instead of the icon of Monna Lisa, a 2D artwork. Examples:
