I have been cleaning new uploads for a while and cleaning copyvio too, I would like to help more by patrolling new pages/uploads, earlier I had requested for license reviewer right but I did not get it, I think going step by step would be an good idea So, now I am applying for patroller. thanks QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! Jeff G., thanks for sharing the link, I couldn't find the same earlier. QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! [they/them/their] 15:04, 25 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Tiven2240, * pages and files from Special:NewPages, Special:NewFiles, Special:RecentChanges, I already have experience of patrolling on enwiki and I do have new page reviewer, pending changes reviewer, and rollbacker rights on enwiki.
* One can clearly see from my CSD log on enwiki and [1] that my edits on commons and enwiki go hand in hand to clean vandalism/promotional stuff/copyvio. thanks QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! [they/them/their] 03:49, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
QueerEcofeminist Will you mark the following edits as patrolled? a, b, c, d --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 04:30, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Tiven2240, Yes, I will patrol those edits/files/pages. In fact I did whatever was needed. out those one file was already deleted. QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! [they/them/their] 06:49, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@QueerEcofeminist: Sorry but I don't think that you have read COM:PATROL. You are not supposed to mark patrolled all these edits/images which are not appropriate for Commons scope. I appreciate your enthusiasm for patrolling but I would suggest you to please read the documentation and continuing your work of eliminating copyright violations on Commons. Thank you. --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 07:49, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Tiven2240, * I fear you are jumping into conclusions too early, I said I already have experience of patrolling and I do know what patrolling is. I think there is a difference between patrolling and marking something as patrolled you seems to confuse both.
* As I said in earlier reply, question asked to me was weather I will patrol those edits? to which I said Yes, as I can patrol any edits for that matter. Considering the precondition a) file/edit/page is acceptable according to all polices and guidelines. or b) file/edit/page has issues and I have tagged those issues or taken the action needed.
* So, Yes I will mark those files/edits/pages as patrolled after taking the necessary action. And I have already tagged the given files/edits/pages for possible issues. Not just that, even edits on enwiki by similar users were marked/tagged/deleted/reverted at the same time. QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! •  Support. I believe this will be useful for our project. QueerEcofeminist has shown himself to be an active participant who frees the Commons from garbage with DR nominations. The rights of the patroller are actually only slightly more than those of a regular user. But, perhaps this is the future administrator. -- George Chernilevsky talk 14:21, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can I ask this userrights change from Autopatroller to Patroller? She has done good work looking at copyrights violation, patrolling new uploads, and patrolling crosswiki vandals and spammer as her role for being Global Sysops and Global Rollbacker. Global rollbacker didn't add 'mark edits as patrolled'. Now with patroller bits she can also mark page as patrolled. Thanks to admins who read this request.--AldnonymousBicara? 16:52, 9 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done Highly trusted user. No problems here. --Majora (talk) 20:31, 9 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Been going through many new file uploads and tagging them for deletion where appropriate. Also Taivo granted me the Autopatroller right recently, and I believe that I can contribute more by reviewing edits/uploads of others too. Rollbacking rights might be helpful too. I have frequently found myself going through new uploads and nominating out-of-scope files for deletion, and I'd like to be able to mark acceptable pages/edits as patrolled to help keep the backlog low. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 07:17, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to request patroller rights as I'm cleaning new uploads and nominating out-of-scope / copyvio files for deletion, I would like to "mark edits as patrolled" acceptable files / pages / edits as patrolled to reduce the backlog. I would greatly appreciate it if I were granted patroller rights. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 14:31, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Cohaf: What did you learn from Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Cohaf?   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 16:24, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jeff G.: . The files I uploaded then was maps for future development of towns in Singapore, they are exhibited in Urban Redevelopment Authority HQ atrium for public viewing and comment, something like this. For the Freedom of Panaroma of Singapore, maps are allowed as Singapore Copyright laws exempt them from copyright as long as they are on permanent display. What I didn't notice is that these goverment maps are not on permanent display, after the period for commenting, they will be taken off, hence, it will be eligible for copyright. 2 key lessons that I took away, 1. check all the facts very carefully beforehand, don't assume. I assumed they are the same as concept plans/masterplans (example) which will be on permanent display. I should not assume the status of ammendments to real ones. 2. read all the fine prints (permanent vs temporary) was important. All in all, more care should be given into the licensing terms and conditions. I hope this answer the question and thank you for asking the question. User has shown interest in patrolling edits, and I see no reason why not. See also their autopatrol request above which Donald Trung had advised. Thank you. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 16:34, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I tend to browse new files, check new categories and of course view changes to the pages on my watchlist, so I might be able to help reducing the backlog along the way. On the Dutch language Wikipedia I have spent quite some time now and then patrolling new edits, a pastime I might develop on Commons. Of course I will omit patrols concerning jurisdictions unfamiliar to me, even after – as I do already out of interest – checking a user's edit history, but I probably will get more learned and confident in a wider area as time passes. I guess any help would be helpful and I am indeed willing to help. Jürgen Eissink (talk) 12:57, 7 August 2019 (UTC).[reply]

I have similar rights on the English Wikipedia. I wish to help deal with vandalism here on Commons also. Thank you. Boothsift 05:23, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Boothsift: in what way will you help deal with vandalism here on Commons as you mentioned with Patroller rights ? I think Rollback rights is a better tool to fight vandalism. FitIndia Talk Mail 05:42, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Fitindia: Well, this right is similar to the reviewer rights on Wikipedia as I can review edits and pages, making sure they comply with policies. I suppose that rollback would also work, but I don't need it right now in my opinion --Boothsift 05:46, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Boothsift: I still feel that this is not a anti-vandalism tool but am glad you are willing to help out in the Patrolling back log and that is my reason to support your request. Thank you for your work put in. FitIndia Talk Mail 06:29, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I help check if the original author of the new file agrees to publish with a free license and if the recent change contains ads or vandalism for a long time. I know there was a recent request. At that time, I wanted to gain more experience and I wasn't quite interested in new pages patrolling. But I have changed my mind. I occasionally patrol Special:NewPages and User:OgreBot's new users' upload gallery. I tag files for speedy deletion (check my deleted contributions), start DRs and I believe I have knowledge about copyrignt. Sometimes I come across good new uploads and I want to mark them as patrolled but can not because I don't have the patroller right. Thank you for considering. • Thanks for the nomination. I don't know whether I'd patrol here or not, though. I do a lot of patrolling at Wikivoyage, where I'm an admin (and actually also a bureaucrat, though that seldom comes into play), but I don't really know what I'd be patrolling for here.
