INPE import

Sometime ago I had also uploaded several images related to the CBERS satellites construction (after I had found out about url2commons) in links like this one, but there are still several images that I didn't upload. @Don-vip Great! The only sad thing is that with images like File:Caparao MUX 20150628 150 123 B765.tiff it is not clear which satellite took them, so is hard to categorize it. Erick Soares3 (talk) 22:16, 31 May 2024 (UTC)

Nova versão de arquivo

Boa tarde. Eu criei uma nova versão da imagem File:Dr Julio Queiroz Candidato a Vice-Prefeito de São Pedro da Aldeia 2024 - TSE.jpg e queria saber se ela vai atualizar sozinha ou vai ser preciso uma predefinição para chamar um administrador para trocá-la. @KakuLogia+: boa tarde! A imagem atualiza sozinha, mas considerando que eles tem poses bem diferentes, é válido manter as duas lado a lado, e talvez até criar uma categoria para o candidato. Erick Soares3 (talk) 17:08, 31 August 2024 (UTC)

Renaming requests

Hello,

I do not see that your renaming request of File:Bebeto Haddad Candidato a Prefeito de São Paulo 2024 - TSE.jpg is legitimate. Your rationale 4 "harmonization" is not fitting, rather, the rationales "Files should NOT be renamed only because the new name looks a bit better." (dubious, as uppercase writing hampers legibility) and the description of when criterion 4 is applicable ("Just because images share a category does not mean that they are part of a set. There are two scenarios that this criterion is designed for. First, certain complex templates (such as those that use BSicons or that display football kits) assume that the images used in them will follow a specific naming convention. Wikisource also uses a specific naming convention for the source files they transcribe. Second, files that form parts of a whole (such as scans from the same book or large images that are divided into smaller portions due to Commons’ upload size restriction) should follow the same naming convention so that they appear together, in order, in categories and lists.") would be applied. Hi, Erick. The file source links did not work for me and I suspect, that the license is wrong: your claim, that the logo has attribution-only license, seems unlikely. Can you give evidence for the license? Taivo (talk) 17:17, 16 October 2024 (UTC)

Considering the bottom of the site (e.g. https://www.gov.br/inpe/pt-br/programas/cbers/cbers-30-anos) says "Todo o conteúdo deste site está publicado sob a licença Creative Commons Atribuição-SemDerivações 3.0 Não Adaptada." ("All content on this site is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives 3.0 Unported license."), I have to agree. I don't know if the given license template was ever valid, given the vagueness of the "Todas as imagens poderão ser reproduzidas, desde que citada a fonte" statement. — Huntster (t @ c) 18:05, 16 October 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Taivo and Huntster: The license was valid in the http://www.cbers.inpe.br/centrais_conteudo/galeria/ website (which, as it seems, it is finally down), not in the gov.br (which isn't the source). I understood "Todas as imagens poderão ser reproduzidas, desde que citada a fonte" as "it is ok to use, if you cite the source". Thankfully, Wayback Machine is working to recover the original source. The gov.br url (which is indeed a Non-Deriv license) is only a modern development. Sites like inpe.br are way older, but it was decided the entire Brazilian government should use the new url. But the images shouldn't be understood as having the new license when they were sourced in the old url, or else a category like Category:Photographs by Agencia Brasil should be deleted. My opinion is that this statement is not clear enough in its scope to declare the associated images as freely licensed, but I admit I'm quite conservative in my approach to copyright issues. "Logo INPE © Todas as imagens poderão ser reproduzidas, desde que citada a fonte: CBERS/INPE – Divulgação." is not a valid license. Every file in Commons must be free for commercial use and derivative works. The license does not say anything about derivative works. I must delete the logo.
