1968-2024

On Valentine’s Day, the world welcomed a special soul who would go on to exemplify the true meaning of love throughout her life. Jennifer Lynne Sporrer, daughter of Lawrence and Mildred (Eich) Sporrer, was born Feb. 14, 1968, in Carroll, Iowa. The youngest of eight children, she grew up on a farm 1 mile east of Manning.

Jenny had a deep affection for animals and spent countless hours admiring children’s books filled with colorful illustrations. Her passion for purses was unmistakable to all who knew her; she possessed an extensive collection and had an impressive knowledge of each one. Jennifer’s desire to acquire more purses was well-known among her friends and family, adding a touch of lightheartedness to her character.

Throughout life, Jenny faced challenges with strength and grace. Despite living with disabilities, she embraced each day with a contagious laughter that touched the hearts of those around her. Her resilience in the face of adversity serves as an inspiration to us all. She was a cherished member of Sacred Heart Church in Manning throughout her lifetime.

Jenny passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Accura Healthcare of Carroll at age 56.

Left to cherish her memory are her five siblings Patricia Treinen (Richard) of Sioux City; Marilyn Tillman of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Alice Sporrer of Sioux City; Larry Sporrer (Gema) of New York; and Lynn Sporrer of Atlantic; nieces and nephews: Theresa Treinen, Julie Treinen and Ray Tucker, Sarah (Rick) Rocha (Treinen), Bethany Cheatham, Noel (Becky) Sporrer; great-nieces and great-nephews: Kayla Treinen, Seth Hurlbert, Katlynn Tucker; Trent and Elizabeth Rocha; Tyson, Jace, and Elyse Cheatham; Cash, Kale, Talli and Lola Sporrer; one great-great-nephew: Brenden Hurlbert; and two aunts: Kay Loughran of Breda and Dorothy Schon of Glidden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Donna (Robert) Gaffney; brother Loran Sporrer; brother-in-law Nolan Tillman; aunts and uncles Lucy (Leo) Irlmeier, Helen (George) Eischeid, Evelyn (Adolph) Langel, Alvin (Marie) Eich, Ray (Thelma) Eich, Herbert Eich, Sally (Jerry) Schenkelberg, Sister Ricarda Eich, Inez (Bud) Ohlinger, and Vernice (Alma) Sporrer.

Jenny’s Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, June 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning with Father Randy Schon serving as celebrant. Organist Anne Muhlbauer provided accompaniment for Sherry Loughran singing, “Be Not Afraid,” “One Bread, One Body,” “Ave Maria” and “Amazing Grace.” Ella Langel and Bill Muhlbauer were Mass servers, Jeanne Danner served as the lector, Barb Smith and Rhonda Schwarzkopf served as offertory gift bearers, Barb Smith served as the extraordinary Eucharistic minister, Aunt Kay Loughran, Barb Smith, Aunt Dorothy Schon, Rhonda Schwarzkopf, Pat Treinen, Alice Sporrer, Bob Danner, and all of Jenny’s friends at New Hope Village served as honorary casket bearers; Richard Treinen, Dan Schwarzkopf, Louie Smith, Rick Willenborg, Gene Langel, and Gary Sporrer served as casket bearers. Following the burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manning, the family invited everyone to the Sacred Heart Parish Center for a time of fellowship and lunch. Services were entrusted to Ohde Funeral Home.
