Every member of #TeamLHSC contributes to creating a safer experience for our patients, regardless of their role. This Canadian Patient Safety Week, we're proud to highlight that patient safety is at the heart of our work, every day.

A team at London Health Sciences Centre Research Institute (LHSCRI) is the first in Canada to treat a patient with a rare form of cancer using a radioisotope called actinium-225 DOTATATE. “Introducing a new treatment option to patients is a big win in the fight against cancer,” says Dr. David Laidley, Researcher at LHSCRI and Nuclear Oncologist at LHSC. Please join us in congratulating Nicole Yawney, Youth Indigenous Wellness Consultant at Children’s Hospital at LHSC, on once again being awarded with Children's Healthcare Canada's Truth and Reconciliation Achievement Award! Nicole’s contributions to children and youth have had a tremendous impact on Indigenous care experiences at Children’s Hospital, including working with the Youth Indigenous Wellness Program, supporting access to mental health resources and cultural wellness, planning LHSC’s first Youth Indigenous Career Fair, and contributing to the Land-Based Healing/Nature Prescriptions initiative. A new study from London Health Sciences Centre Research Institute (LHSCRI) is showing an innovative treatment approach to mood and anxiety disorders among young adults. “We wanted to assess whether our model leads to long-term improvements in patient outcomes, understand who it works for, and describe the mechanism by which it helps people recover,” says Dr. Elizabeth Osuch, Scientist at LHSCRI and Medical Director at FEMAP.
