Elders and their families from Igloolik and Sanirajak, totalling nearly 160 Inuit, spent a second day at an old campsite near Steensby Inlet, on a journey organized and hosted by Baffinland. Several other elders and dignitaries arrived by helicopter to join the group, including the president of the QIA, Olayuk Akesuk and the Mayor of Igloolik, George Auksaq. The elders shared memories of their childhoods on the land, and spoke of the importance of returning, as part of their healing. After the speeches and other festivities, some elders continued their journey on a caribou hunt. Baffinland truly appreciates the opportunity to listen and engage in meaningful dialogue. The elders' wisdom and insights are invaluable, and we are committed to incorporating Inuit traditional knowledge and history of the area that was shared with us, in shaping the future of our operations. We are listening. 160-ᐸᓗᐃᑦ ᐃᓐᓇᐃᑦ ᐃᓚᖏᓪᓗ, ᐃᒡᓗᓕᖕᒥ ᓴᓂᕋᔭᖕᒥᓪᓗ, ᑭᖑᓪᓕᕐᒥ ᐅᓪᓗᖓᓂ ᑕᖕᒫᖅᓯᒪᕝᕕᐅᕙᓚᐅᖅᑐᒦᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᖃᓂᒋᔮᓂ ᐃᒃᐱᑭᑦᑐᕐᔪᐊᑦ, ᐃᓚᒋᔭᐅᓪᓗᓂ ᒪᒥᓴᖅᐸᓪᓕᐊᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ, ᑲᑎᑎᑕᐅᓪᓗᑎᒃ ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᓐᓂᑦ. ᐊᒥᓱᒐᓚᑦ ᐱᕐᔪᐊᖑᔪᑦ ᑎᑭᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᖁᓕᒥᒎᒃᑯᑦ ᐃᓚᓕᐅᑎᓪᓗᑎᒃ ᑲᑎᙵᔪᓄᑦ, ᐃᓚᐅᓪᓗᓂ ᓄᓇᕗᒻᒥ ᒥᓂᔅᑕᐅᔪᖅ ᐱᕙᓪᓕᐊᔪᓕᕆᔨᒃᑯᓐᓄᑦ ᐃᖏᕐᕋᔪᓕᕆᔨᒃᑯᓐᓄᑦ, ᑕᐃᕕᑦ ᐊᕿᐊᕈᖅ, ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐊᖓᔪᖅᑳᖓ ᕿᑭᖅᑕᓂ ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᑲᑐᔾᔨᖃᑎᒌᑦ, ᐅᓛᔪᒃ ᐊᑭᓱᒃ. ᑖᒃᑯᐊ ᐃᓐᓇᐃᑦ ᑐᓴᖃᑎᒌᒍᑎᖃᖅᖢᑎᒃ ᐃᖅᑲᐅᒪᔭᖏᓐᓂᒃ ᓄᑕᕋᐅᓂᕆᓚᐅᖅᑕᖏᓐᓂᒃ ᓄᓇᒥ, ᐅᖃᐅᓯᖃᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᐱᒻᒪᕆᐅᓂᖓᓂᒃ ᐅᑎᕐᓂᖏᓐᓂᒃ, ᐃᓚᒋᔭᐅᓪᓗᓂ ᒪᒥᓴᖅᐸᓪᓕᐊᓂᕐᒧᑦ. ᐅᖃᓪᓚᑲᑕᓚᐅᖅᑎᓪᓗᖏᑦ ᐊᓯᖏᓪᓗ ᖁᕕᐊᓱᓗᖕᓃᑦ, ᐱᖃᓯᐅᔾᔨᓯᒪᔪᑦ ᓂᕿᑦᑎᐊᕙᖕᓂᒃ ᓂᕿᓪᓚᑦᑖᓂᒃ ᓂᕆᕕᒡᔪᐊᖅᖢᑎᒃ, ᐃᓚᖏᑦ ᐃᓐᓇᐃᑦ ᕿᒪᒃᑕᐅᓂᐊᖅᑐᑦ ᑐᒃᑐᓕᐊᕐᓂᕐᒧᑦ. ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᖁᔭᓕᓪᓚᑦᑖᖅᑐᑦ ᐱᕕᖃᖅᑎᑕᐅᓂᖏᓐᓄᑦ ᓈᓚᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐃᓚᐅᓂᕐᒧᓪᓗ ᑐᑭᑖᖅᑎᑕᐅᓯᒪᑦᑎᐊᖅᑐᓂᒃ ᐅᖃᖃᑎᒌᖕᓂᕐᓄᑦ. ᐃᓐᓇᐃᑦ ᓯᓚᑐᓂᖏᑦ ᑕᐅᑐᙳᐊᖅᑕᖏᓪᓗ ᐱᕐᔪᐊᖑᖕᒪᑕ, ᐊᖏᖅᓯᒪᐃᓐᓇᖅᖢᑕᓗ ᐃᓚᓕᐅᑎᓂᐊᕐᓗᒋᑦ ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᖃᐅᔨᒪᔭᑐᖃᖏᑦ (ᐃᓕᖅᑯᓯᒃᑯᑦ ᖃᐅᔨᒪᓃᑦ) ᐱᕐᔪᐊᖑᓂᖏᓐᓄᑦ ᐋᖅᑭᒃᓱᐃᕙᓪᓕᐊᓂᕐᒥᒃ ᓯᕗᓂᒃᓴᖓᓄᑦ ᐊᐅᓚᓂᑦᑕ. Baffinland was proud to host a remarkable gathering this week near Ikpikitturjuaq, a former hunting camp near Steensby Inlet. In an epic journey, we supported a group of Inuit elders from Igloolik and Sanirajak in their return to the land where many had lived and had camps. Nearly 160 Inuit, elders and their families, made the trip to Steensby in a flotilla of 24 boats. Several other elders who were unable to make the voyage by water, arrived by helicopter. There was an emotional return to that land. The group first paid their respects at the gravesite of Itikutuks, an important ancestor. The group camped in about 30 tents along the shoreline. This was a key step in our development of the Steensby Component of the Mary River Project. Baffinland is dedicated to ensuring that our project respects and preserves the cultural heritage of Inuit who have called these lands home for centuries. We are committed to preserving the natural beauty and integrity of Steensby Inlet and the surrounding region. We are proud to have been able to support this request by elders to visit the land. We are listening. ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᐅᐱᒍᓱᒃᑐᑦ ᑲᑎᑎᑦᑎᔪᓐᓇᕐᓂᕐᒥᓂᒃ ᐃᖅᑲᐅᒪᓇᕐᓂᐊᖅᑐᒥᒃ ᑲᑎᑎᑦᑎᓂᕐᒥᒃ ᐱᓇᓱᐊᕈᓯᕐᒥ ᐃᒃᐱᑭᑦᑐᕐᔪᐊᑦ ᖃᓂᒋᔮᓄᑦ, ᐊᖑᓇᓱᒡᕕᐅᕙᓚᐅᖅᖢᓂ ᓄᓇᖃᕐᕕᐅᕙᓚᐅᖅᑐᖅ ᐃᒃᐱᑭᑦᑐᕐᔪᐊᑦ ᖃᓂᒋᔮᓂ. ᐃᖅᑲᐅᒪᓇᖅᑑᓪᓗᓂ ᐃᖏᕐᕋᓂᕐᒥ, ᐃᑲᔪᖅᑐᐃᓯᒪᔪᒍᑦ ᑲᑎᙵᔪᓂᒃ ᐃᓄᖕᓂ ᐃᓐᓇᕐᓂ ᐃᒡᓗᓕᖕᒥ ᐊᒻᒪ ᓴᓂᕋᔭᖕᒥ ᐅᑎᖅᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᓄᓇᖓᓄᑦ ᐊᒥᓱᑦ ᓄᓇᖃᖅᓯᒪᔪᑦ ᓄᓇᓕᕋᓛᖃᖅᖢᑎᒡᓗ. ᖃᓂᒋᔮᓂ 160 ᐃᓄᐃᑦ, ᐃᓐᓇᐃᑦ ᐃᓚᖏᓪᓗ, ᐃᒃᐱᑭᑦᑐᕐᔪᐊᓕᐊᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᐅᒥᐊᖅᑐᖅᖢᑎᒃ 24 ᐅᒥᐊᑦ. ᐊᒥᓱᒐᓚᑦ ᐊᓯᖏᑦ ᐃᓐᓇᐃᑦ ᐃᓚᐅᔪᓐᓇᓚᐅᙱᑦᑐᑦ ᐃᒫᒍᑦ ᐃᖏᕐᕋᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ, ᑎᑭᑎᑕᐅᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᖁᓕᒥᒎᒃᑯᑦ. ᐃᒃᐱᖕᓂᐊᓂᖅᑕᖃᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᐅᑎᖅᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᑕᐅᕗᖓ ᓄᓇᒧᑦ. ᑲᑎᙵᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᐃᒃᐱᒍᓱᖅᑳᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᐃᓗᕕᐊᓂ ᐃᑎᑯᑦᑑᑉ, ᐃᒃᐱᒋᔭᐅᑦᑎᐊᖅᑐᖅ ᓯᕗᓕᕆᔭᐅᔪᖅ. ᑲᑎᙵᔪᑦ ᑕᖕᒫᖅᓯᒪᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ 30−ᐸᓘᓐᓗᑎᒃ ᑐᐲᑦ ᓯᒡᔭᖓᓂ. ᑕᒪᓐᓇ ᐊᓪᓗᕆᐊᕈᑎᒻᒪᕆᐅᓚᐅᖅᐳ ᐱᕙᓪᓕᐊᓂᑦᑎᓐᓂ ᐃᒃᐱᑭᑦᑐᕐᔪᐊᓕᕆᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᓄᓘᔮᖕᓂ ᐱᓕᕆᐊᒥ. ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᔪᒪᓂᖃᓪᓚᑦᑖᖅᑐᑦ ᑕᒪᓐᓇ ᐱᓕᕆᐊᖅ ᐃᒃᐱᒍᓱᑦᑎᐊᕐᓗᓂ ᔭᒐᐃᑦᑕᐃᓕᓯᒪᓗᓂᓗ ᐱᖅᑯᓯᒃᑯᑦ ᐃᑦᑕᕐᓂᓴᖏᓐᓂᒃ ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᑕᐃᔭᖏᓐᓂᒃ ᑕᒪᒃᑯᓂᖓ ᓄᓇᓂ ᐊᖏᕐᕋᖃᕐᓂᕋᖅᑐᓂᒃ ᐊᕐᕌᒍᒐᓵᓗᖕᓄᑦ. ᐊᖏᖅᓯᒪᓪᓚᑦᑖᖅᑐᒍᑦ ᔭᒐᐃᑦᑕᐃᓕᓗᒍ ᓄᓇᖓᑕ ᐱᐅᓂᕇᓐᓇᖅᑕᖓᓂᒃ ᐊᒻᒪ ᓱᓕᔫᓂᖓᓂᒃ ᐃᒃᐱᑭᑦᑐᕐᔪᐊᑦ ᖃᓂᒋᔭᖓᓄᓗ ᓄᓇᖁᑖᓂ. ᐅᐱᒍᓱᒃᑐᒍᑦ ᐃᑲᔪᖅᑐᐃᔪᓐᓇᓚᐅᕋᑦᑕ ᑕᒪᑐᒥᖓ ᑐᒃᓯᕋᖅᑕᐅᔪᒥᒃ ᐃᓐᓇᕐᓂᑦ ᑕᑯᔭᖅᑐᕐᓗᑎᒃ ᓄᓇᖓᓂ. ᓈᓚᒃᑐᒍᑦ. Baffinland recently completed the 2024 field season of our Archaeology Program along the planned route of the Steensby Railway. Through archaeological surveys, we identify culturally and historically significant sites and artifacts in planned development areas, which is a necessary step in ensuring their protection and preservation. Participants included Baffinland archaeologists, Inuit Monitors and field assistants from three Baffin Island communities, who completed aerial surveys by helicopter. All findings were documented on the land and by drone, while noting specific areas needing further investigation. Each new archaeology site will be registered with the Territory. It is important to note that during the survey phase of the Archaeology Program, no digging or retrieving of any artifacts took place. Baffinland has developed a detailed mitigation plan, prioritizing avoidance and protection. Before any excavation begins, archaeology permits will be reviewed and approved by the Territorial Archaeology Office, the communities, Inuit Heritage Trust, and Nunavut’s Minister of Culture and Heritage. Baffinland uses a balance of science and Inuit Knowledge to safeguard the environment in which we operate. We are committed to community consultation, Inuit representation, as well as respecting, protecting and preserving Nunavut’s unique culture and rich archaeological history. ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᐱᔭᕇᖅᓯᓵᖅᑐᑦ 2024-ᒥ ᓯᓚᒥ ᐱᓕᕆᓐᓇᐅᑎᓪᓗᒍ ᐃᑦᑕᕐᓂᓴᓕᕆᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᐊᓂᒃ ᑕᐅᕘᓇ ᐸᕐᓇᒃᑕᐅᓯᒪᔪᑎᒍᑦ ᐊᖅᑯᑖᒍᑦ ᐃᒃᐱᑭᑦᑐᕐᔪᐊᓄᑦ ᓄᓇᓯᐅᑎᑯᑖᒃᓴᐅᑉ ᐊᖅᑯᑎᑯᑖᒃᓴᖓᓂ. ᐊᑐᖅᑕᐅᓪᓗᑎᒃ ᐃᑦᑕᕐᓂᓴᓂᒃ ᖃᐅᔨᓴᕐᓃᑦ, ᓇᓗᓇᐃᖅᓯᓯᒪᔪᒍᑦ ᐱᖅᑯᓯᒃᑯᑦ ᐃᒻᒪᕐᓂᓴᓪᓗ ᐱᕐᔪᐊᖑᔪᑦ ᐃᓃᑦ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᓱᓇᒃᑯᑖᑦ ᐸᕐᓇᒃᑕᐅᓯᒪᔪᓂ ᐱᕙᓪᓕᐊᕝᕕᐅᔪᒪᔪᒥ, ᐱᓕᕆᐊᖑᔭᕆᐊᖃᖅᑐᑦ ᓴᐳᔾᔭᐅᓯᒪᖁᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᔭᒐᑕᐅᑦᑕᐃᓕᖁᓪᓗᒋᓪᓗ. ᐃᓚᐅᔪᑦ ᐱᖃᓯᐅᔾᔨᓯᒪᔪᑦ ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᓐᓂ ᐃᑦᑕᕐᓂᓴᓕᕆᔨᓂᒃ, ᐃᓄᖕᓂᒃ ᓇᐅᑦᑎᖅᓱᖅᑎᓂᒃ ᐊᒻᒪ ᓯᓚᒥ ᐱᓕᕆᓐᓇᐅᑎᓪᓗᒍ ᐃᑲᔪᖅᑐᓂ ᐱᖓᓱᓂ ᕿᑭᖅᑖᓗᖕᒥ ᓄᓇᓕᐅᔪᓂᑦ ᐱᔭᕇᖅᓯᓯᒪᔪᑦ ᖃᖓᑕᓲᒃᑯᑦ ᖃᐅᔨᓴᕐᓂᕐᒥᒃ ᖁᓕᒥᒎᒃᑯᑦ. ᓇᓂᔭᐅᔪᓗᒃᑖᑦ ᑎᑎᕋᖅᑕᐅᓯᒪᔪᑦ ᓄᓇᖓᓂ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᖁᓕᒥᒎᕋᓛᖅ ᐊᔾᔨᓕᐅᕈᑎᓕᒃᑎᒍᑦ, ᓇᓗᓇᐃᖅᓯᓯᓐᓈᖅᖢᑎᒃ ᓇᓂᓪᓚᑦᑖᖅ ᖃᐅᔨᓴᒃᑲᓐᓂᕆᐊᖃᕐᒪᖔᑕ. ᐊᑐᓂ ᓄᑖᖅ ᐃᑦᑕᕐᓂᓴᖃᕐᕕᒃ ᑎᑎᕋᖅᑕᐅᓂᐊᖅᑐᑦ ᓄᓇᕗᒻᒥᑦ. ᐱᒻᒪᕆᐅᔪᖅ ᓇᓗᓇᐃᕐᓗᒍ ᖃᐅᔨᓴᕐᓂᖃᖅᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᐃᑦᑕᕐᓂᓴᓄᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᐊᒥ, ᓴᒡᒐᖕᓂᖅᑕᖃᓚᐅᙱᑦᑐᑦ ᐅᕝᕙᓘᓐᓃᑦ ᐲᖅᓯᔪᖃᓚᐅᙱᑦᑐᑦ ᑭᓱᑐᐃᓐᓇᕐᓂᒃ ᓱᓇᒃᑯᑖᓂᒃ. ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᐱᕙᓪᓕᐊᑎᑦᑎᓯᒪᔪᑦ ᓇᓗᓇᐃᔭᑦᑎᐊᖅᓯᒪᔪᓂᒃ ᐸᓚᐅᒪᑎᑦᑎᓇᓱᖕᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐸᕐᓇᐅᑎᓂᒃ, ᓯᕗᓪᓕᐅᔾᔨᓂᕐᒥᒃ ᐅᐸᒃᑕᐅᑦᑕᐃᓕᖁᓪᓗᒍ ᐊᒻᒪ ᓴᐳᔾᔭᐅᓯᒪᓗᓂ. ᓇᒡᕚᖅᓯᐅᖅᑐᖃᓚᐅᙱᓐᓂᖓᓂ, ᐃᑦᑕᕐᓂᓴᓕᕆᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐱᔪᓐᓇᐅᑏᑦ ᕿᒥᕐᕈᔭᐅᖅᑳᕆᐊᓖᑦ ᐊᖏᖅᑕᐅᓯᒪᓗᑎᒡᓗ ᓄᓇᕗᒻᒥ ᐃᑦᑕᕐᓂᓴᖃᕐᕕᖕᓄᑦ ᑎᑎᕋᕐᕕᐊᓂ, ᓄᓇᓕᖕᓂ, ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᐱᖁᑎᖏᓐᓂᒃ ᓇᐅᑦᑎᖅᓱᖅᑎᒃᑯᓐᓂᑦ, ᐊᒻᒪ ᓄᓇᕗᒻᒥ ᒥᓂᔅᑕ ᐃᓕᖅᑯᓯᓕᕆᔨᒃᑯᓐᓄᑦ. ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᐊᑐᓲᑦ ᓇᓕᒧᒌᓂᒃ ᑭᒡᓕᓯᓂᐊᕐᓂᕐᒥᒃ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᖃᐅᔨᒪᓂᖏᓐᓂᒃ ᓴᐳᔾᔨᓯᒪᔪᒪᓪᓗᑎᒃ ᐊᕙᑎᒥᒃ ᐊᐅᓚᓂᖃᕐᕕᒋᔭᑦᑎᓐᓂ. ᐱᓂᐊᕐᓂᕋᖅᓯᒪᔪᒍᑦ ᓄᓇᓕᖕᓄᑦ ᑐᓴᕋᓱᐊᖅᐸᖕᓂᒃᑯᑦ, ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᑭᒡᒐᖅᑐᖅᑕᐅᓗᑎᒃ, ᐊᒻᒪᓗᑦᑕᐅᖅ ᐃᒃᐱᒍᓱᑦᑎᐊᕐᓂᒃᑯᑦ, ᓴᐳᔾᔨᓯᒪᓂᒃᑯᑦ ᔭᒐᐃᑦᑕᐃᓕᒪᓂᒃᑯᓪᓗ ᓄᓇᕗᒻᒥ ᐊᔾᔨᐅᙱᑦᑐᒥᒃ ᐃᓕᖅᑯᓯᕐᒥᒃ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐱᐅᓪᓚᕆᒃᑐᓂᒃ ᐃᑦᑕᕐᓂᓴᓕᕆᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐊᑐᖅᑕᐅᕙᓚᐅᖅᑐᓂᒃ. We are pleased to announce that Baffinland and the Qikiqtani Inuit Assoc. (QIA) will be once again hosting the Annual Project Review Forum. This year, it will be held in Igloolik from September 10-12, 2024 and is an opportunity to receive updates and discuss various subjects related to the Mary River Project and the surrounding communities. This forum gives community representatives a chance to comment on Baffinland’s mitigation and monitoring programs, and to make recommendations for overall Project improvement. We are currently seeking youth and elder delegates from the communities of Pond Inlet, Arctic Bay, Clyde River, Sanirajak and Igloolik, to participate in this year’s forum. Ages for youth delegates are 18 – 30 and Elders must be 55 and older. After eight years at the helm of Baffinland, our CEO Brian Penney has decided to leave the company, to move back to the east coast of Canada to be with his family. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Brian for his leadership and dedication during his tenure. We are confident that the strength of our team and the foundation Brian has helped build will continue to drive Baffinland's overall successes, including our focus on safety, the progression of the Steensby Project, our ongoing and growing Inuit engagement, our environmental stewardship and ensuring Nunavut’s high-grade iron ore is a cornerstone of the green steel transition. We wish him all the best in his next endeavors on the east coast with his family, and thank him for his hard work and vision. Here's to the next chapter at Baffinland, built on the legacy he has helped create! 8-ᓂᒃ ᐊᕐᕌᒍᓂ ᓯᕗᓕᖅᑎᐅᓪᓗᓂ ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᓐᓂ, ᐊᖓᔪᖅᑳᒻᒪᕆᒃᐳᑦ ᐳᕋᐃᔭᓐ ᐱᐊᓂ ᓄᖅᑲᕈᒪᓯᒪᓕᖅᑐᑦ ᑲᒻᐸᓂᐅᔪᒥ ᓅᓪᓗᓂᓗ ᑲᓇᖕᓇᖓᓂ ᓯᒡᔭᖏᓐᓄᑦ ᑲᓇᑕᒥ ᐃᓚᒥᓃᑦᑕᖅᑐᕐᓗᓂ. ᖁᔭᓕᔪᒪᓪᓚᑦᑖᖅᑕᕗᑦ ᐆᒻᒪᑎᒥᖔᖅᑐᒥᒃ ᐳᕋᐃᔭᓐ ᓯᕗᓕᖅᑎᐅᓚᐅᕐᓂᖓᓄᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᔪᒪᓂᖃᓪᓚᑦᑖᕐᓂᖓᓄᓪᓗ ᐱᓕᕆᑎᓪᓗᒍ. ᖁᓱᙱᑦᑐᒍᑦ ᑕᒪᓐᓇ ᓴᙱᓂᖓ ᐱᓕᕆᖃᑎᒌᖃᑎᑦᑕ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᑐᙵᕕᓕᐊᕆᓯᒪᔭᖓ ᐳᕋᐃᔭᓐ ᐃᑲᔪᕐᓂᐊᖅᑐᖅ ᐋᖅᑭᒃᓱᐃᕙᓪᓕᐊᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᐊᑕᖏᖅᑐᒥᒃ ᑲᔪᓯᓂᖃᑦᑎᐊᕐᓂᖏᓐᓄᑦ, ᐱᖃᓯᐅᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᑐᕌᒐᕆᔭᕗᑦ ᐊᑦᑕᕐᓇᖅᑕᐃᓕᒪᓂᕐᒧᑦ, ᑕᒪᓐᓇ ᑲᔪᓯᕙᓪᓕᐊᓂᖓ ᐃᒃᐱᑭᑦᑐᕐᔪᐊᓕᕆᓂᖅ ᑲᔪᓯᕙᓪᓕᐊᖏᓐᓇᖅᖢᑕ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐱᕙᓪᓕᐊᓪᓚᕆᒃᖢᓂ ᐃᓄᖕᓂᒃ ᑲᑎᒪᖃᑎᖃᖃᑦᑕᕐᓂᖅ, ᐊᕙᑎᑦᑎᓐᓂᒃ ᑲᒪᑦᑎᐊᕋᓱᖕᓂᖅ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᑕᒪᓐᓇ ᓄᓇᕗᒻᒥ ᓴᕕᒃᓴᑦᑎᐊᕙᐅᓛᖅ ᑐᑦᑕᕐᕕᐅᑎᓪᓗᒍ ᓴᓗᒪᓂᖅᓴᑎᒍᑦ ᓴᕕᕋᔭᓕᐅᕐᓂᕐᒥᒃ ᐊᑐᖔᓕᕐᓂᕐᒧᑦ. ᖃᓄᐃᙱᑦᑎᐊᖁᕙᕗᑦ ᑭᖑᓪᓕᕐᒥ ᐱᓕᕆᐊᕆᓂᐊᓕᕐᒥᔭᖏᓐᓂ ᑲᓇᖕᓇᖓᓂ ᓯᒡᔭᖏᓐᓂ ᐃᓚᒥᓃᓪᓗᓂ, ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᖁᔭᒋᓪᓗᑎᒍᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᕐᔪᐊᖅᓯᒪᓂᖓᓄᑦ ᑕᐅᑐᙳᐊᖅᓯᒪᔭᖏᓐᓄᓪᓗ. ᑖᓐᓇ ᑭᖑᓪᓕᖅ ᒪᒃᐱᖅᑐᒐᐅᓂᐊᓕᖅᑐᑦ ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᓐᓄ, ᐋᖅᑭᒃᓱᖅᑕᐅᕙᓪᓕᐊᓗᓂᓗ ᐱᓕᕆᓯᒪᔭᖏᓐᓂ ᐃᑲᔪᖅᓯᒪᔪᖅ ᐋᖅᑭᒃᓱᖅᑕᐅᑎᓪᓗᒍ!

After closely monitoring the ice conditions for the last number of days, Baffinland confirms that the ice conditions have reached a continuous path of 3/10th concentrations, which means that we will begin the 2024 shipping season. The first convoy of vessels entered the Regional Study Area around noon today and consisted of two tugs. The tugs will proceed in advance of the ore carriers so they can arrive at Milne Port and get prepared to assist the ore carriers once they arrive. The tugs will pass by Pond Inlet around 2:45pm. Four ore carriers will enter the Regional Study Area and will transit by Pond Inlet tomorrow at approximately 4am/5am. If you have questions please email [email protected] or call 899-1807. As part of our preparations for the 2024 Shipping Season, Baffinland has hired a team of Inuit Shipping Monitors to track all vessel activity along the Northern Shipping Route. Please join us in welcoming this year’s Shipping Monitors: Cassidy Pitseolak, Evan Kyak, Geela Simonee, Maxine Katsak, Nina Kautuq, Rhoda Quaraq, Susie Simonee, Kyla Killiktee, Amanda Koonoo, JJ Simonee and Sarah Enooagak. Baffinland Shipping Monitors, based in Pond Inlet, actively observe and monitor all vessels travelling to and from Milne Inlet, providing daily updates. They also report any deviations from our mitigation measures, such as ships going above our industry-leading 9 knot speed limit. The Shipping Monitors serve as a direct link between the community and Baffinland, providing information about our mitigation and management measures, and addressing questions about the Project. We are excited to have some returning Shipping Monitors from last season, and are delighted to welcome the new crew members. Some of our former Shipping Monitors have moved on to other roles within the Company, and have developed long-lasting careers at Baffinland. We are committed to providing training and employment opportunities to all Nunavummiut. Stop by and say hello to our team on the second floor of the MHTO building in Pond Inlet.
