About the Coffee
Sandra Trochez is the owner and operator of Finca Don Amado, a 5-hectare coffee farm in the Santa Barbara department of Honduras. Our collective partners in Kansas City at the Roasterie and Messenger have worked closely with this group over the past few years, and we are excited to offer a coffee from this direct trade relationship! Sandra and her late husband Amado were married in 2007 just one year after Amado – a third-generation coffee farmer – was gifted land from his father to start his own farm. They worked together to build the farm, and in 2010 their coffee won first place in the Cup of Excellence competition! This changed their lives by opening up many opportunities to connect with coffee buyers looking for long-term commitments. Sadly in 2019 Amado passed away, but after some time Sandra decided to keep the farm running to honor her late husband's legacy. Today, with the help of her children and her brothers-in-law Sandra keeps the farm operating and the quality strong!
