Welcome to the Tachikomatic Fanclub!

Here we celebrate their existence above all; after all, this is a cult fanclub dedicated to worship none but them. The most awesome secondary character to ever exist in anime. The most awesome mecha ever. The AI-powered, weapon-powered and just maybe even ghost-powered mecha. The smartest mecha to ever see the light of day. The funny talking mecha with baby-like personalities from the Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex world. No one other than the great Tachikoma!

If you didn't yet have the opportunity of seeing them in action, a short description adapted from the one AniDB currently hosts follows:

The Tachikoma are walker/roller think-tanks. They are combat vehicles equipped with heavy weaponry and artificial intelligence, possessing the ability to act as both personnel transport units and mobile self-controlling weapons.

They are as large as an average sedan, are painted blue and have four "eyes" fitted on the surface of their bodies. Three are on the "head" and one is beneath the abdomen. Each eye has three pinholes, loosely resembling a bowling ball. These eyes sometimes become expressive in the typical anime style. Tachikoma are controlled by individual AIs, are capable of speech and generally exhibit a childish, curious, joyful and active personality, although they are (generally) consummate professionals in the field. They normally operate as independent units and receive orders from human agents, but they can also be directly piloted from a cockpit in their abdomen. They may sometimes take action on their own or against their orders if their AI judges it best. They are strongly based on the Fuchikoma that appear in the Ghost In The Shell manga, which could not make their way into the Stand Alone Complex series due to copyright issues.
